WWE News: Latest on Mick Foley, His WWE Status and Return

Drake OzNov 2, 2011

The Mick Foley saga continues.

There has been speculation over the last several months that the former WWE star would be making his way back to the company to perform in some sort of TV role, but there have been plenty of bumps in the road.

Foley was first advertised to appear at the Nov. 14 Monday Night Raw taping. He then said he was waiting to hear from the WWE about a return and he was removed from the Nov. 14 Raw advertisement.

So, exactly what’s going on?

Well, here’s the latest on Foley’s WWE status, courtesy of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via WrestleZone.com):

"

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that although Mick Foley was pulled from advertisements for the 11/14 three-hour edition of WWE Raw, there are still plans to feature him on the show, and it will likely be in a referee capacity.

It's also being said that there is a good chance Foley will be appearing at Survivor Series, as he is working a comedy gig just six blocks away from Madison Square Garden at midnight on the night of the PPV.

"

OK, now we’re getting somewhere.

I’ve questioned all along why the WWE would advertise Foley for an appearance on the last episode of Raw prior to Survivor Series if he hadn’t already agreed to a new contract—even if it’s a short-term one—with the company. It just wouldn’t make sense.

At least now, though, it appears as if Foley is indeed under a deal with the WWE to make at least a few appearances for the company. The WWE likely pulled him from the advertisement to keep his return a surprise.

I hate to tell you this, guys, but we’ve known that Foley’s coming back for a while now. And we all expect him to be at the Nov. 14 episode of Raw and the Survivor Series pay-per-view.

If you bring back Foley as a guest referee in one of those handmade ref shirts of his, though, we’re definitely not going to complain, even if we all know it’s coming.
