BCS Rankings: Which BCS Contenders Are on Upset Alert in Week 10?
If there's anything contenders for BCS bowl games have learned in recent weeks, it's that they can't take games for granted. When a team gets national recognition, a target forms on its back and it continues to grow as the ranking improves. Here are three contenders on upset alert in Week 10.
No. 3 Oklahoma State Cowboys
It's a minor surprise the computers love Oklahoma State so much because the Cowboys have only knocked off two ranked teams. Saturday's game will provide them with an opportunity to get another marquee win as they welcome Kansas State to Boone Pickens Stadium.
The Wildcats will be looking to get back on track after losing their unbeaten record against Oklahoma last week. Collin Klein will be a handful for Oklahoma State's defense, which has allowed at least 20 points in all but one game.
Prediction: Cowboys by eight
No. 6 Oklahoma Sooners
Oklahoma bounced back from its first loss in a big way by defeating Kansas State in Week 9. The Landry Jones to Ryan Broyles connection was on target all afternoon as the Sooners played with a noticeable chip on their shoulder.
Texas A&M is no pushover despite its unranked status. The Aggies have knocked off Baylor and Texas Tech, which is the team that beat Oklahoma, and lost to Oklahoma State and Arkansas by a combined five points.
Prediction: Sooners by four
No. 8 Oregon Ducks
The Ducks haven't suffered defeat since Week 1 against LSU and have hovered around the top 10 ever since. However, Oregon only has one impressive win (versus Arizona State) to hang its hat on and is having trouble with injuries and quarterback play.
They play Washington in Week 10, which has a strong offense of its own led by Keith Price and Chris Polk, and was ranked in the initial BCS rankings before losing to Stanford. The game has all the makings of a shootout and Oregon is vulnerable right now, so don't be surprised to see an upset.
Prediction: Huskies by two
