WWE: Best Title Belts of All Time
Anyone who follows WWE (or at least did growing up) has their favorite champions.
However, my favorite part about wrestling isn't necessarily the progression of wrestlers or story lines, but the progression of the championship belts.
My favorite belts always highlight my favorite eras.
Criteria
Must invoke emotion, whether from a certain match, wrestler or memory.
Relatively simple design. You will not see the above WWE "Spinner" belt. I don't like it.
Has to be from the modern era of wrestling. Basically, nothing Bob Backlund could have worn in his prime.
Dishonorable Mention
1 of 6I'm not sure what the people in charge were thinking when they designed this tribute to ancient Rome, USC or Michigan State, but I hate this belt.
I hate the harsh bronze. Championship belts need to be flashy and bright, not muted like this one. I don't really know what else to say other than that I hate it.
5. WWE United States Title
2 of 6This belt has just the right amount of color and design for the US Title.
I was always a fan of the US division for some reason, although I never really knew why. This is one of the few WWE belts still in use that I like, and it's just contemporary enough for my taste.
4. WCW Heavyweight Title
3 of 6This was a really classy belt that was very well made. I thought it was a brilliant move for WCW to try and out-glamorize the WWF belt at the time without overdoing it.
This belt will always immediately make me think of Bill Goldberg and it gets extra points for when the nWo took it over and spray painted it to make it "theirs".
It certainly says something that it was brought over from WCW and is still in existence.
3. WCW Tag Team Title
4 of 6This was a tremendous belt and the exact opposite of the current WWE Tag Team belt.
Smartly made with a splash of color but not as overbearing as the "Spinner" belt made popular by John Cena, it had just enough design to stand out.
2. Classic Winged Heavyweight Championship
5 of 6This title is just beautiful. Classic and regal (and I don't mean Lord Steven or William), yet understated and elegant.
I realize all those adjectives are the complete opposite of what pro wrestling is, but I loved this belt because it wasn't in your face and didn't have too much going on.
1. White Intercontinental Title
6 of 6Jackpot. Hands down my favorite belt of all time, it was worn by my favorite wrestler of all time (Shawn Michaels).
The white strap always stuck with me.
It always reminds me of one of my favorite WrestleMania PPVs of all time (at Caesars Palace) and was the coolest belt ever. I always loved the Intercontinental fights, especially Shawn Michaels versus Razor Ramon in their classic Ladder Match.
No belt will ever be able to endear itself to me like this one has.
