Anderson Silva Says He Will Fight Another 7 Years in the UFC

G DOct 31, 2011

Over the past few months, there has been speculation that Anderson Silva's career could be coming to an end within the next year or two.

In fact, Silva's manager Ed Soares recently stated that Silva would fight four more times before calling it quits to a historical mixed martial arts career.

Well, that news changed when it was recently revealed that not only would Silva fight this year, but a total of seven more years.

Yes, seven more years.

Silva addressed his decision to prolong his already spectacular career when he stated (via ESPN):

"

"I'll fight for another six or seven years and then I'll stop," Silva told De frente com Gabi. "I stopped to think about it and I'll postpone my retirement for a little longer. Then I'll think about TV."

"

This change in events will have the UFC middleweight champion in contract until 2018, in which Silva would be fighting until 43 years of age.

And, as expected, Silva went on to address the overpopulated topic of his rematch with Chael Sonnen in the near future, stating:

"

"He doesn't deserve to fight me. The most important thing he didn't do: defeating me. He was caught in the drug test, which was the worse.

"I believe he shouldn't be on the sport, because he has no emotional control. While trying to provoke me, he makes the sport looks bad. He made bad comments, offended me and my wife."

"

UFC fans across the globe now have reason to be excited, as arguably the world's greatest fighter in Anderson Silva will fight for another seven years.
