WWE Divas: Are There Too Few Credible Divas to Make the Division Matter?

Nathan GieseOct 31, 2011

With the way things are going in the diva's division, there may be little hope to save it.

Beth Phoenix is the champion, Natalya is her confidant and Eve and Kelly Kelly are the ones they are targeting as fitting the stereotypical "Barbie" persona.

After those four, what's left?

That's the question currently being asked by outsiders of the WWE.  Who's left in the diva's division that could help make them credible again?

The answer may not lie within who is currently with the company.  Looking at the roster spots filled by divas, there is not a single woman with the talent level of the current champion to make for a formidable opponent.

It appears after her win over Natalya this past Monday, that Alicia Fox is the next one in line for a title shot.

Problem with that is, Fox is no better than any other diva inside the ring and fails to bring with her any sort of fanbase to make fans care about her as a potential champion.

If Fox as the No.1 Contender is the direction they want to go, they—meaning WWE creative staff—might want to reconsider their position.

Look back at their last great idea of having Brie Bella being Diva's champion and how miserably that failed.  It has taken them almost six months to dig themselves out of that hole.  Now, women's wrestling in the WWE has gained some sort of a following, something they have lacked for the better part of a year.

With Beth and Natalya running the show, fans have finally started to take notice of the standing of diva's wrestling.  The Diva's of Doom, or Diva's of Salvation, or whatever it is they want to be called, are trying to make divas relevant again.

Those two are the only ones in the company that have the beauty and wrestling skills that make a credible diva.  Eve is coming along as a competitor,  Kelly has gotten better in the ring but still is very suspect.

Those four, especially after the release of Maryse, are the only ones who can make the diva's division fun to watch.

With the rest of the female roster being so thin on genuine talent, it's hard to see a successful run for any diva that isn't currently one of those top four.

Fox may be the next one in line, but that will hardly do any good for the division.  At this rate, Beth Phoenix or Natalya should be the ones holding onto the diva's title until Kharma can return.

Until then, we may be subject to poor diva's wrestling for the time being.
