BCS Rankings: Arkansas Razorbacks and Other Overrated Teams

Michael MillOct 30, 2011

As long as the BCS Rankings exist, there will be complaints about the BCS Rankings.

It has become almost a weekly tradition that people sit down and pick out the flaws in the system that decides which teams are the best in college football.

Unfortunately, this imperfect system is the only one we have.  That isn't going to stop us from complaining and discussing what the rankings should look like.

Here are three teams who are being severely overrated in the BCS Rankings.

No. 10 Arkansas Razorbacks

The Arkansas Razorbacks are one of the highest ranked one-loss teams in the nation.

Are they really deserving of this ranking?

The Razorbacks' only loss of the season came against No. 2 Alabama. However, they really don't have any wins worth noting.

They beat Texas A&M, but the Aggies are being exposed as frauds. They also beat Auburn, but the same holds true for the Tigers.

In back to back weeks they have barely taken out Ole Miss and Vanderbilt.

Arkansas is good, but they aren't the best one-loss team in the country.

No. 12 Virginia Tech Hokies

How in the world is Virginia Tech ranked as the 12th best team in the nation right now?

The Hokies may be 8-1, but they have played only one good team all season. They were crushed by Clemson in that game.

Even in the games they have won, Virginia Tech has struggled against much lesser opponents. They barely found ways to beat ECU, Miami, and now Duke this weekend.

If a team like Penn State isn't getting respect for beating unranked opponents, why is Virginia Tech?

No. 16 Texas A&M Aggies

After this week, it will be shocking if the Aggies are still in the top 25 rankings when the amounts have been totaled.

Texas A&M dropped an overtime loss to Missouri this afternoon which puts them at a 5-3 record this season.

As fantastic as the Texas A&M offense has been all season, the defense is holding them back from being a top 25 team.

Allowing 25.4 points per game isn't going to cut it, especially when they make the move to the SEC.
