NFL Picks Week 8: Denver Broncos and More Week 7 Winners That Will Fall
After a week filled with close, low-scoring finishes, some teams will be able to build on their momentum and pull out another win on Sunday. This trio, however, will come back to earth after beating subpar opponents in Week 7:
Denver Broncos (vs. Detroit)
The rumors of Tim Tebow raising the dead are greatly exaggerated. Despite last week’s surprising comeback against lowly Miami, the Broncos’ newly-minted starting QB isn’t going to turn Denver into a contending team.

Even playing at home, the Broncos will come back to earth in this week’s showdown with Detroit. The Lions have had a week to acclimate to the loss of Jahvid Best and the Detroit passing game, and with or without injured QB Matthew Stafford, will put up too many points for Tebow to match.
Cleveland Browns (at San Francisco)
Cleveland took the ugliest of several ugly Week 7 games, with a 6-3 decision over the struggling Seahawks. They won’t have such an easy time shutting down the 49ers offense at Candlestick Park.
Cleveland’s unimpressive run defense will get pounded by San Francisco’s combination of Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter. Unless Colt McCoy has a monster game against the (admittedly less-than-stellar) San Fran pass defense, the Browns will fall back under .500.
Pittsburgh Steelers (vs. New England)
The Steelers have faced two teams that currently have winning records. They’ve lost both games, scoring a combined 17 points in the process.
New England isn’t likely to stifle Pittsburgh (or anyone else) defensively, but the Steelers’ inflated 5-2 record won’t be improving in this game. Tom Brady and the Pats offense will rack up yards and points faster than Big Ben and company can catch up.
