St. Louis Cardinals Parade: Will Cards Fans Cheer Albert Pujols Again?

Donald WoodOct 29, 2011

The St. Louis Cardinals took down the Texas Rangers four games to three in what can be described as one of the most exiting World Series of all time.

The Cardinals' World Series parade starts 4 p.m. ET, Sunday, October 30, at 18th St. and Market in downtown St. Louis, moving down Market Street and onto Stan Musial Drive for the final stretch to Busch Stadium.

With emotions running high, these two teams battled as hard as they could and the Cardinals came out on top. The end to the World Series brings serious questions, though.

Will Albert Pujols ever play for the St. Louis Cardinals again?

Pujols is slated to become a free agent this offseason, and his lack of respect from the Cardinals front office this previous offseason could mean the slugger tests the market despite the World Series victory.

While there were questions about whether the Cardinals could afford to hold on to Albert Pujols, they have all been answered by the title that he delivered the team and the city of St. Louis this season.

If the Cardinals don’t sign the veteran slugger long-term, the bitter rival Chicago Cubs would love to open the vaults and give Albert anything he needs to get him into their uniform.

The St. Louis Cardinals franchise would be fools not to sign the slugger long-term just on the basis that he has been nothing but a winner with your team. Pujols is great for the community, and his star power will only increase now that he won the 2011 World Series.

Cardinals fans need to enjoy the parade and the images of Pujols smiling with his teammates because those could be the last images you ever see of Albert in a St. Louis uniform.
