WWE: 15 Current Wrestlers Who Need to Put Up or Shut Up

Kevin BergeNov 2, 2011

WWE is as much about promos as it is about wrestling.

Sometimes, it even trumps wrestling, as some stars talk far more than they fight.

This can be entertaining for a time, but, after a while, it makes the promos feel pointless.

It is hard to take any threats seriously from a guy who hasn't won a match in months.

Sometimes wrestlers, mostly heels, simply need to put down the mic and throw down to show what they can really do.

This is becoming such a prevalent idea in WWE today that the majority of the roster seems to be getting ahead of themselves.

New stars are coming in, and all they want to do is talk.

Older veterans are getting lazy and don't want to throw down with younger stars.

Following are 15 wrestlers who really need to put up or shut up.

Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks

1 of 13

Most people don't know much of anything about this tag team, which proves they are not really doing enough at this point.

That doesn't stop them from acting confident and cocky on NXT as a tag team.

These two have a massive amount of potential, but you wouldn't know it with how much you see them.

These guys need to stop bragging and start begging WWE to give them a shot on the main shows.

Until that time, everything they say on the mic about winning and being great will be completely pointless.

David Otunga

2 of 13

Unlike most people, I see something in David Otunga.

With the right gimmick and some serious training, he has a real chance to make a splash in WWE.

Right now though, all he is doing is talking.

His lawyer gimmick would be decent if it actually made an impact.

All he seems to do lately is work behind everyone without doing much of note.

It is a bit intriguing, but it is mostly just boring.

If he doesn't start doing something soon, he might as well just fade away from the public eye and go down to FCW.

The Miz and R-Truth

3 of 13

They were doing a great job for months.

They looked like the most dominant tag team and possibly force in WWE.

Then they made the big gamble and attacked John Cena.

How's that going so far?

The Miz and R-Truth are incredibly talented especially on the mic, but that has been their downfall right now.

They sound awesome and threatening on the mic, and then their combined force can't even affect John Cena.

Just wait until The Rock gets there.

Not good for this team unless they really shape up now.

Mason Ryan

He is big.

He is strong.

He is monstrous.

He also has no presence on the mic.

Not good for a guy who has been talking against the US Champion lately.

His work is not only bad enough that he should just stop talking, but he also just needs to fight.

He has wrestled three matches since returning, and he has not made an impact with two losses and his only win being in a 12-man tag team match.

It is time to stop talking and start winning.

Jack Swagger

5 of 13

Jack Swagger acts like he is the partner of Dolph Ziggler.

He acts like he is his equal.

However, his successes would suggest otherwise.

Jack Swagger lately has been squashed in less than a minute by Zack Ryder and lost to Santino Marella.

Not exactly the successes of a guy who is supposed to be an equal to the longest reigning champion in WWE today.

It is time to show why he deserves to be part of the Vickie Guerrero group, or he should just stop talking and be Ziggler's bodyguard (not that I would wish that upon the talented Swagger).

Brodus Clay

6 of 13

We get it.

He's big and a monster.

For those who didn't watch NXT Season 4, they probably have no idea what Clay can really do.

Yes, he was Alberto Del Rio's bodyguard for a while, but that did not really show anyone anything about his ability.

It is time to stop the video packages and start really wrestling on the main shows.

You don't get over by being big and talking about it.

You get over by being a winner.

Hunico

7 of 13

Can anyone tell me how many matches Hunico has won in WWE?

Maybe two only under the Sin Cara Azul mask.

When he became Sin Cara Negro, he stopped winning at all.

Now, he tells us all that he is going to make Sin Cara pay for unmasking him.

That's great! Why don't you just go do that, then?

It is time to actually win now that everyone knows who you are.

Otherwise, you will fade away.

On the plus side, he no longer is wearing the Sin Cara wrestling attire which has always been a curse for eternal botching.

Zack Ryder

8 of 13

I like Zack Ryder as much as the next guy, but he really needs to pull out the big win soon.

I know that he has beaten Ziggler on numerous occasions in non-title matches, but how about actually winning a singles title?

The Internet Championship is not a real championship.

If he wants to be a champion, he needs to stop talking on his web show and win.

If you can't beat Ziggler when he is beaten up and just lost to Air Boom, when are you going to beat him to become champion?

Now would be a good time.

Kevin Nash

9 of 13

Okay, so he acts somewhat.

But does hitting a guy with a sledgehammer and hitting one jackknife powerbomb a month really count?

Well, WWE probably thinks it does.

I would suggest that Nash hasn't nearly fulfilled his ideals of making WWE fun again and showing us what he can really do.

Instead, he spent a few weeks talking nonstop, but then he couldn't deliver.

Now, he uses a single sledgehammer shot to kill a man.

That apparently counts in WWE's world, but not mine.

Daniel Bryan

10 of 13

Daniel Bryan is an amazing wrestler.

One of the best I've ever seen.

However, his work in WWE lately has been lacking in delivery.

He promises to become a star and be worthy of a WrestleMania World Heavyweight Championship match, yet he has lost matches since that day at about a five losses:one win ratio.

He simply is not looking like a main event player, even though he claims he will make it.

Well, now is the time to start delivering, Bryan.

It is now or never.

Wade Barrett

11 of 13

Wade Barrett says he is beginning the Wade Barrett Uprising.

The Barrett Barrage.

His Second Coming.

Yet all he seems to do is beat up on guys who have not won matches in months.

There is nothing revolutionary or extraordinary happening.

Some people don't even notice that he is promising these major implications.

He better start doing something now, because soon that promise is going to look hollow.

The Rock

12 of 13

We all love The Rock because of his amazing charisma.

He is an amazing mic worker.

And that is the problem.

He loves to talk.

The Rock does not act or follow through much with his promises.

He simply exaggerates most ideas and gets huge reactions.

I want him to actually go to that ring and lay the smackdown on some poor soul.

Until that point, his promises to dominate in the ring are as hollow as his promise that he would never leave the WWE again.

Come on, Rock, bring it!

Christian

13 of 13

Christian is an awesome athlete and a good mic worker.

The problem is he has not fulfilled a single one of his promises in the past several months.

In fact, even before that, he had trouble keeping his word.

He tells us again and again he can beat Randy Orton, even though he has never pinned Orton in a title match.

He promises that he will beat down Sheamus, and Christian is the only one not standing at the end of the night.

The whining is getting bad for Christian, and he is not delivering.

I know you want one more match, but you have had your one more match for at least five matches now!

Thanks for reading!
