NFL Week 8 Picks: Suck for Luck Contenders Who'll Add Another Loss

Kyle VassaloOct 28, 2011

It's clear that the Green Bay Packers are the best team in the NFL, but the honor of the "worst team in the league" designation is an ongoing and heated battle.

Andrew Luck, or a boatload of picks in exchange for the No. 1 overall pick awaits the worst team in the league. Conspiracy theorists think teams are botching this season to lure Luck into the building. Given the "performances" we saw last week, it's hard to disagree.

The Dolphins somehow found a way to buckle at the end of their game against the Broncos last week to collapse in epic fashion. Not to be outdone, the Colts were destroyed in a 62-7 Sunday night massacre.

Every time we think we know who the worst team in the league is, one team outdoes themselves. There are three winless teams left in the mix, but they aren't the only teams involved in the "Suck for Luck" race.

Here are five teams who will tack on another loss and add to their embarrassing resume.

St. Louis Rams (0-6)

Brandon Lloyd can't save the Rams. Bradford or no Bradford, the Rams getting torched on the ground is going to render a losing result.

DeMarco Murray had 253 yards against the Rams last week. They happen to play the Saints this week, and we all saw how ruthless they can be against an NFL bottom feeder.

Indianapolis Colts (0-7)

The Colts thought they had a bye last week. They have clearly moved from pathetic to indifferent. They don't care, their fan base is looking forward to April and while it is unclear what they would do with the No. 1 overall pick, they are currently the frontrunner to obtain it.

The Titans lie ahead of them and Tennessee needs a win to remain in the thick of the AFC South race. They have the worst rushing offense in the league, but Chris Johnson will have a chance to get back on track against the Colts, who allow over 150 rushing YPG.

Miami Dolphins (0-6)

Bad teams find a way to lose. Even when Miami appeared to have it in the bag, they managed to get Tebowed en route to their sixth loss of the season. They now square off against the Giants, who are currently leading the NFC East.

Matt Moore has to square off against the Giants' front in a shootout with Eli Manning. At this point, it seems that the fan base would be angered if the Dolphins managed to pull off this improbable upset.

Arizona Cardinals (1-5)

The Cardinals managed to win a game, so on this list, they are amongst the elite. Even so, they are in dire straights. Beanie Wells is banged up, Kevin Kolb isn't proving he's an elite franchise quarterback by any means and Larry Fitzgerald is having a decent season with over 500 yards, but he's not performing up to his potential by any means.

To make matters worse, they play the Ravens, who are coming off an embarrassing Monday Night loss. Expect the Cardinals to feel the wrath of a frustrated Ravens team looking to prove themselves.

Seattle Seahawks (2-4)

Having multiple wins may essentially disqualify the Seahawks from this race. Whether or not all of these teams will win one game, let alone two, is up for serious debate. Even so, the Seahawks outdid themselves last week in a 3-6 loss that ended with a Seattle personal foul that cost them the game.

The Seahawks are finding ways to lose and it's clear that their unexpected win over the Giants was an aberration. The Bengals have to go into Qwest, but they have the No. 2 defense in the NFL and Seattle can't move the ball through the air or on the ground, ranking 28th in passing yards and 31st in rushing yards.
