BCS Rankings: Boise State and Houston Deserve More Respect from Computers

Life isn't fair in college football.

The latest BCS computer rankings are out, and the two small schools are getting absolutely screwed.

Boise State is still stuck at five, behind No. 3 Alabama, who could only muster six points in their loss to No. 1 LSU.

It's proof the Broncos are in a no-win situation.

It doesn't matter how many Mountain West foes they pummel, their is no conceivable scenario where Boise State will play in the National Championship game, despite winning every game by at least 11 points and despite beating SEC's No. 15 Georgia handily.

The computers don't care that the QB Kellen Moore-led offense is ranked seventh in the nation, scoring just under 44 points a game. The defense is 12th in the country, allowing a mere 16.8 points per game.

Boise State is incredibly balanced and is capable of beating any team in the country. It's a real shame they can't truly prove their worth.

The same goes for 11th-ranked Houston. The Cougars are a perfect 9-0, but haven't played a team on the same level of Georgia.

QB Casey Keenum is putting up numbers that are even a stretch in a video game. His 3,626 passing yards and 34 TDs have the Cougars ranked first in passing yards (457 per game) and in scoring (52.7). The defense isn't untouchable, but is holding opponents to under 24 points a game.

They are anchored behind highly overrated teams like No. 10 Virginia Tech and No. 8 Arkansas, and can't do anything about it. Who wouldn't like to see how the best offense in the nation matched up against a LSU or Alabama defense?

It's going to be a travesty to watch an undefeated team get skipped for a BCS bowl game, but that's where we are heading with Houston.
