Breaking Down WWE Armageddon

Two title matches and a grudge match highlight the final WWE Pay-Per-View of 2008, Armageddon. 

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
John Cena (Champion) vs. Chris Jericho

Super Cena returned sooner than expected after suffering a neck injury at SummerSlam.  He came back to win the World Heavyweight Championship. 

The title has changed hands four times in the last two months (Punk->Jericho->Batista->Jericho->Cena), and seeing as how this is John Cena's first World title run, Chris Jericho doesn't stand a chance.  Although no one expected him to walk out of Unforgiven as the World Heavyweight Champion.

Prediction: John Cena

TRIPLE THREAT MATCH FOR THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP
Edge (Champion) vs. Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy

The Ultimate Opportunist struck again, claiming another WWE Championship at Survivor Series.  Strangely enough, I see Triple H as the long shot in this match.  I have said before that I think that Jeff Hardy should get a major title run, to prove how much he has actually matured.

If he screws up as champion, he is as good as gone.  Fans are still behind him, so I would not be surprised if Jeff Hardy walked out the WWE Champion.  In fact, I'm making it my upset pick.

Prediction: Jeff Hardy

Batista vs. Randy Orton

Both have enjoyed success in singles competition after the breakup of Evolution.  Over the last few years, they have led parallel paths through the WWE.  Batista on Smackdown, Randy Orton on RAW.  Now they collide.  While Randy Orton RKO'ing Batista on RAW gave him a slight upper hand, I see Randy Orton going to extremes to beat Batista, possibly even using Priceless.

Prediction: Randy Orton

Matt Hardy vs. Vladimir Kozlov

Even though its possible this pick could be wrong, I don't really like Vladimir Kozlov and Matt Hardy is on a roll, enough said.

Prediction: Matt Hardy

BELFAST BRAWL
Finlay vs. Mark Henry

I have never really cared for Mark Henry.  However, I do think this match will live up to the "Belfast Brawl" moniker a little better than the one at this years WrestleMania.  I see a very physical, very brutal match, but I think the Irishman gets the better of the Worlds Strongest Man.

Prediction: Finlay

INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT FINALS
Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk

Personally I think the WWE somewhat dropped the ball on this one and should have started the tournament a week earlier that way this would be an Intercontinental Championship Match and not the finals for a tournament.  I think fans may be a little bit torn in this one, and it should be a heck of a match, but I would personally rather see Rey face Regal.

Prediction: Rey Mysterio

Overall its a pretty decent card.  Great?  No, just decent.
