WWE: Where Do Wrestling Loyalties Lie on Monday Night Raw?

David LevinOct 27, 2011

There is a video on YouTube which shows Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Shawn Michaels and Triple H embracing before Hall and Nash went on to invade WCW.

The reason why I speak of this video is because it shows just how special a bond the four men, and Sean Waltman (or X-Pac), had in the WWE.

Those kinds of bonds are not easily broken in this profession.

What we saw the other night on Raw, whether real, fake, cheesy (as some writers have stated), or just too intense, speaks to how far the creative team at both Raw and SmackDown are reaching to find an even balance in the writing brands.

When CM Punk basically held the WWE to ransom with a title and a new edge in his style, WWE began a new “Attitude Era”, and it started to work. The only problem was there were too many hiccups in the formation of this brand and, therefore, we are left with what we have today.

Maybe I should back up and say that things started going south once John Cena and The Rock were announced as the headline event of WrestleMania XXVIII just weeks after the 2011 event took place.

Bad timing, to say the least.

But in keeping with that, Punk’s “shoot” set the stage for this and, three weeks ago, he was right when he said he started all this crap that is going on in the WWE.

To be honest, welcome to your new bullies on the block, R-Truth and The Miz, who are doing the same things Nash and Hall were doing 15 years ago in WCW.

But, right now, it is taking too long to develop.

The only things we know are Cena and the Rock will team up against The Awesome Truth at Survivor Series, Triple H is “injured” and will probably reappear at Survivor Series to face Nash and his cronies.

But who will be on whose side?

Triple H mentioned Waltman and Michaels on Monday night, but you have to wonder whose side will they stand on? Scott Hall is out of the picture and we cannot think of anyone else who could jump into this fray.

Something drastic has to happen.

Remember, words mean a lot in wrestling. So you almost have to believe both will make an appearance when Triple H comes back to the ring.

While all this goes on, we wonder who will watch the shop and fight the good fight. Cena and Punk will mind the store, and someone like Sheamus and possibly Randy Orton will fight the good fight against Truth, Miz, Christian, Jack Swagger, et al.

All other champions, including Mark Henry, now seem insignificant.

There needs to be more of a bridge.

I see Waltman siding with Triple H and the shock approach of Michaels siding with Nash, citing that Triple H held him back.

It makes for great storylines and drama.

When that does happen, we can finally talk about a Cena heel turn, since he can use the excuse that he is tired of Truth and Miz running the place, because he needs to be in control.

I guess you could say we all have CM Punk to thank for this.
