NFL Week 8 Picks: Which Underdogs Could Pay Off Big?

John RozumOct 26, 2011

This week the NFL betting line is somewhat difficult to grasp, because it's setup very well. And rightfully so, however, there are three games that stick out in favor of the underdogs.

That being said, here are three underdogs that could potentially payoff big time.

Dallas Cowboys (Underdog) at Philadelphia Eagles (Favorite) -3.5

For one, if I'm picking this game straight up the Cowboys are getting the nod. Dallas is much healthier than from a few weeks ago, they're coming off a dominating performance and have a stout defense.

As for Philly, they defeated the Redskins in Washington, but only put up 20 points when the defense got Mike Vick and company four turnovers is not impressive. This week, take the Cowboys and the points because Big D is going to pound the rock all game long.

The Eagles have the No. 23 ranked rush defense, and being healthier on offense, Tony Romo should have a decent game throwing the ball. When Philly has the rock however, don't expect too much as Dallas forces pressure inside the trenches all night, thus making Andy Reid's offense one-dimensional.

Cowboys 24, Eagles 13

Kansas City Chiefs  (Underdog) vs San Diego Chargers (Favorite) -3.5

This game is interesting because K.C. is riding a three game win streak, while the Chargers have no idea who they are. They can't win on the road (Denver wasn't impressive) and they're barely defeating inferior opponents.

The Chiefs on the other hand, have figured out how to win without their two best players, rolling with confidence, and they have a defense who knows how to force turnovers.

It's a big game for both teams however, the Chiefs not only cover the spread, but they win the game thanks to a solid rush offense against a weak Bolts' rush defense.

Chiefs 21, Chargers 17

Indianapolis Colts (Underdog) at Tennessee Titans (Favorite) -9

Of the three games mentioned, this one is the most intriguing. Both teams are coming off insanely dominant losses however, the Colts came against the Saints, whereas the Titans came against the Andre Johnson-less Texans.

And neither team really has a one-up on each other, since both are weak in virtually every football aspect. That said however, Indy has been struck more by injuries than Tennessee, hence a slight edge for the Titans.

But, RB Chris Johnson continues to disappoint, the Colts do have a respectable pass rush, and Tennessee basically fell a part last week while Indy was just over-matched.

The Titans win this game, but it's by less than nine points, as they're confidence is almost shot, yet they oust the Colts with a better passing attack.

Titans 17, Colts 13
