Terrell Owens Workout: Twitter Reaction to TO's Desperate Attempt at NFL Return

Ryan RudnanskyOct 25, 2011

Former NFL star receiver Terrell Owens held a workout on Tuesday in Calabasas, Calif.

The only problem was, nobody was there to watch him.

Owens, who has garnered little interest from teams ever since becoming a free agent in the offseason, reportedly attracted zero representatives as he ran routes and drillls on Tuesday.

That is, if you exclude his agent Drew Rosenhaus.

Tweeted one fan:

Rosenhaus has repeatedly said the Tennessee Titans are interested in the 37-year-old, but Titans coach Mike Munchak has downplayed Rosenhaus' claims, making it clear the Titans had no plans to send reps to watch Owens on Tuesday.

That didn't stop fans from calling for Owens' signing, however:

Despite being productive last season, Owens tore his ACL in the offseason and underwent surgery in April. On top of that, he's made headlines off the field this year for all the wrong reasons.

Owens is currently involved in a paternity battle with Melanie Paige Smith after missing $5,000 in child support payments. Owens also told ESPN in a TV special that his financial adviser misappropriated funds and took advantage of him.

There's also the fact that he was rushed to a LA hospital earlier this month after a possible pill overdose. In 2006, Owens denied reports that he took 35 Vicodin pills in an apparent suicide attempt.

Owens has been working out while he's been in limbo, but it was apparent watching his workouts on Tuesday that he's not in good football shape yet, appearing winded during his audition. However, this is common for players who have been out of action for a while.

Two tweets in particular outlined the discrepancy in Owens' body and his conditioning:

The biggest concern at this point, besides his off the field issues, is that Owens may need about a month to get in football shape if he's signed by an NFL team. Midway through the season, that limits the impact he can have on a team's record.
