Triple H was viciously attacked on two separate occasions during Raw Monday night by Kevin Nash, and what we saw was just too graphic to describe.
Or it was cheesy as hell. I’m going with the latter.
There are times in every die-hard wrestling fan's life when they realize that a non-fan of the sport is watching them enjoy the WWE. Whether it’s a spouse or a relative, that person gives dirty looks and jests of, “You know its fake, right?”
Usually, the retort about how real it is to you is enough, but certain episodes of wrestling make people laugh straight in your face.
Last night’s Raw got me laughed at. Thanks, WWE.
Triple H started the show off in the ring calling out Kevin Nash for costing him the match at Vengeance before telling John Laurinaitis to find Nash.
As Triple H is leaving up the ramp, he turns his back, and Nash rushes him and hits him in the spine with a sledgehammer.
Stop it right here!
If the WWE left it here and just sold it hard that Triple H was injured I would’ve been fine, and my old lady wouldn’t have mocked me. That just couldn’t be it for WWE, though; they had to go way overboard.
Not only did Triple H start “foaming” at the mouth by spitting himself, the paramedics were really pushing hard for fans to believe he was horribly hurt. It was about this time that the dirty looks started.
The camera’s cut away, and I thought I was in the clear, but boy was I wrong.
The scene is set by the WWE officials and medical staff loading Triple H on a stretcher, but Kevin Nash and his sledgehammer scare off the personnel, and he attacks Triple H with a hammer shot to the face that was missed by the shaky camera.
Not only did the fake sledgehammer shot come nowhere near landing, Triple H was strapped to the gurney and was left to fall on his face behind the action. The camera cuts to a face down Triple H and the doctors utter the stupidest phrase on a WWE show in a long time.
"Does he have a pulse?"
My old lady looked me dead in the eyes and laughed a hearty laugh that says, "Aren’t you too old for this kind of stuff?"
While I won’t say this is as bad as when the WWE killed Vince McMahon via an explosion in his limo, this was pretty damn close.
