WWE: Armageddon 2008

Bobby VaccaroDec 9, 2008

This Sunday, live on PPV, is WWE Armageddon, and one of the matches on the card is for the World Heavyweight Championship between John Cena and Chris Jericho. These two have a good history with each other, with some very entertaining matches.

Cena was the one that got Jericho fired (kayfabe) so Y2J could take his two year sabbatical from wrestling, so it was obvious that Y2J and Cena would end up back in a feud eventually.  Let's Discuss:

The History

In 2002, John Cena debuted in WWE, and soon after a feud with Kurt Angle, he was put into a program with Chris Jericho on the SmackDown brand. This led to a match between the two at Vengeance.

John Cena ended up winning with a school boy, and the loss to Cena, ended up with Jericho jumping to Raw.  Three years later, John Cena was drafted to the Raw brand as the reigning WWE Champion, and Jericho greeted him on the Highlight Real.

On a tag team match on the June 13th edition of Raw, it was John Cena and partner Chris Jericho against Christian and Tyson Tomko.

Cena and Y2J won and after celebrating, Jericho turned on Cena and turned heel by attacking him, setting up a triple threat match between John Cena, Christian, and Y2J at Vengeance 2005.

Cena won the match setting up a match between him and Jericho at Summerslam, which Cena ended up winning after an F-U.

Naturally, then GM Eric Bischoff gave Jericho a last chance match on the August 22nd edition of Raw, for the WWE Championship, and if Jericho would lose he would be fired from Raw.

Obviously, Chris Jericho lost and Bischoff (kayfabe) fired him from Raw, but in reality Jericho took a two year sabbatical from wrestling.

Jericho returned in November of 2007, and in September of 2008 at Unforgiven, Jericho won the championship scramble for the World Heavyweight Championship from CM Punk.

Jericho lost the title to Batista from Cyber Sunday 2008, but regained it on the November 3rd edition of Raw.

After returning from a neck injury, John Cena defeated Chris Jericho for the World Heavyweight Championship at Survivor Series 2008, this resulted into a feud between the two, and this rematch at Armageddon.

Final Analysis: It's obvious that Cena will retain, but it would be an amazing twist if Jericho would beat Cena for the title.

I figure if Jericho beat Cena, a lot of WWE fans would enjoy it, because most fans prefer Jericho over Cena.  So, if you tune in to WWE Armageddon this Sunday, expect to have Cena leave as champ. But if WWE fools us all, it would be a bigger shocker than Cena's return at Royal Rumble 2008.

WWE Armageddon airs Live This Sunday, December 14th on PPV.
