WWE Vengeance 2011 Results: Alberto Del Rio Must Retain Title Until WrestleMania

Alberto Del Rio has everything you would want in a great heel WWE Champion.

He has the great look, he has the great charisma and he has the great wrestling skills that can have him match any superstar's talent levels.  

From wrestlers like John Cena and CM Punk, to facing off against Rey Mysterio, as Del Rio did when he first broke into the WWE, he has been able to put on great matches that have entertained fans in one way or another.  

It’s why, as we head into the main stretch of PPVS—Survivor Series, Royal Rumble and WrestleMania—Del Rio has to hold onto the WWE title.

It should all build to an epic match at WrestleMania. 

He comes from a very deep line of wrestling blood. His uncle, Mexican wrestling legend Mil Mascaras, will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame the night before the big show.

The feeling backstage is that when Mascaras is inducted into the HOF, Del Rio will be the one who delivers the induction speech.  

In what will be a touching tribute to a legend from Mexico, having the WWE Champion doing his introduction will be a huge tribute and honor to Mascaras.  

And it’s been a while since the WWE has had a long-reigning champion that wasn’t named John Cena or Randy Orton.  

When the WWE has put their main title on someone like Del Rio before his current reign or a CM Punk, they have only kept it on that wrestler for a month or two.

Was it because they lacked confidence in Punk and Del Rio before? Or that they just wanted the belt on Cena? 

Either way, the WWE needs to keep the belt on Del Rio.

Not just to help build up Alberto as a great champion, as they did with The Miz this time last year, but to help build up the belt as something that is hard to win. 

Having Alberto defend it cleanly after Survivor Series will do exactly that.

It will give him a three-PPV winning streak and give him a six-month title reign.  

That title reign will make whomever he is facing at WrestleMania XXVIII even more important, as Del Rio will be booked as a very strong champion.  

He must hold this title until April’s WrestleMania, as it is his destiny.
