WWE Vengeance 2011 Results: Alberto Del Rio Must Captain Survivor Series Match

After last night’s epic victory for WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio, the stage has been set for an epic traditional Survivor Series pay-per-view match that Del Rio has to be a captain of.  

The pay-per-view does set up for a team of CM Punk, Triple H, John Cena and The Rock taking on a team of The Miz, R-Truth, Alberto Del Rio and Kevin Nash.  

All four men have intertwined into each other’s business, as Punk and HHH just had a match at the last pay-per-view, Vengeance, against Miz and Truth, which saw Kevin Nash interfere in the match. 

Later in the main event, as Cena looked to be on his way at winning his 11th WWE Championship, Truth and Miz came running down to the ring (what was left of it after the  match of Big Show and Mark Henry) to attack Cena, both hitting their finishing moves.  

The sneak attack gave enough time for Del Rio to get up and grab the WWE Title to use as a weapon, knocking Cena out to win the title match.  

But, who will captain the team of HHH, Punk, Cena and Rock does not matter. All four wrestlers are strong enough, that anyone of them can be captain and not hurt their stock in the company.  

However Del Rio, as WWE Champion, must take the lead for his team. As champion, he is the strongest booked wrestler in the company. As champion, he is the person that is the face of the WWE.  

As champion, he has to lead this company.  

So, if he defers the lead to someone like Miz, it not only will take away his momentum as WWE Champion, but also any credibility that he has as the face of the company, let alone his team.  

One last thing before we go, a traditional Survivor Series match is a 5-on-5 elimination style match. Right now there are only four competitors in the match.  

You could make the assumption that Mick Foley will join Triple H and Rock’s team, forming a nice reunion of the three wrestlers who led the WWE in the late 90’s.  

But, who will join Del Rio’s team?  

A long shot is Chris Jericho, as rumors have ran wild about the wrestler’s return. But, more than likely it’s going to be a mid-card superstar, like a David Otunga.  

Alberto Del Rio has to captain this team, no matter who the fifth wrestler is. It not only is the right thing to do, but it is his destiny.
