WWE Vengeance 2011 Results: Top 10 Moments from Last Night's Show
WWE Vengeance was a great show. Let me just say that right off the bat. It was a highly entertaining three hours that I enjoyed. It started out fast and furious, and it ended on a wonderful note.
With that being said, there were 10 moments that stood out to me the most. Some were great, while others were simply amazing. For those keeping track, I also was perfect in my predictions. Throwing out Henry/Show, I went seven for seven!
10. Zack Ryder Loses
1 of 10Dolph Ziggler defended his United States Championship against Zack Ryder last night. Seeing as how Dolph was already tired and worn out from his previous match, you'd think it would be an easy win for Ryder, right?
Wrong!
Ziggler cheated to win, and Ryder came off as a mid-card comedy act. Just as I stated over the weekend, Ryder needs to expand a little bit. Doing the "Woo Woo Woo" thing from Long Island will only get you so far.
He is good in the ring. He has personality, and his small, diehard Internet fanbase loves him. Has he already reached his peak? I hope not. I would love to see him reach the top of the mountain, but he would need a total overhaul first. He has to stop playing to the Internet fanbase and branch out.
Woo! Woo! Woo! You know it!
9. Air Boom Defeats Ziggler/Swagger
2 of 10Air Boom retained in the opening match of the evening. It was a nice little match. It wasn't the greatest, yet it wasn't boring. It was exactly what I expected.
As for Air Boom winning? It was the correct move. Faces winning the opening match of PPV shows is something I almost always endorse. The heels looked good in defeat, and Air Boom continues their run.
As for my issue with Dolph being in two matches last night? I still do not agree with it, but at least it was all in one segment. My problem was him having a match, going to the back and coming back out an hour later. That would have driven me up a wall.
Thankfully, WWE handled things correctly, and Ziggler is looking more and more like a star.
8. Randy Orton Beats Cody Rhodes
3 of 10This was another good match. The crowd slowly got into it, but the men in the ring did a fantastic job. Orton hit the RKO and got the pinfall victory.
Again, it was the right move. With the match being non-title, Cody could lose here. Orton winning the IC title is something I am totally against. Thus, both guys looked good, and we will see what happens next with these two, if anything at all.
7. Did Booker T Forget John Morrison's Name?
4 of 10Parkour Guy!
That is what Booker T called John Morrison last night. While running through the members of Mark Henry's "Hall of Pain," he paused and added that "Parkour Guy."
Yes, he did say that.
I don't know if it was another weird Booker T nickname or if he just flat out forget the guy's name. Either way, I found it hilarious. I just can't even believe he said that.
Parkour Guy!
6. Awesome Truth Win
5 of 10The Miz and R-Truth needed to win this. WWE needed to find a way for CM Punk and Triple H to lose this match. Thankfully, WWE came through again.
Punk loses for the third straight PPV show, and Miz and Truth look like a million bucks. As I stated in my prediction's column, the entire basis of Survivor Series was Triple H/CM Punk losing last night.
If Awesome Truth lost, they might as well have cancelled Survivor Series. They would be done. Lucky for us all, none of that happened. Why did Triple H and Punk lose?
5. Kevin Nash Returned...Again!
6 of 10Nash returned from the audience and attacked Triple H. That caused Punk to eat the pinfall in the middle of the ring. Afterwards, Nash delivered a power bomb to Triple H looked nasty.
Triple H limped to the back, and we are off and running to Survivor Series. Perfect setting for the PPV show, as we all hope and pray Triple H is okay.
4. Beth Phoenix Beats Eve in a Great Match
7 of 10Yes, this match was great. If this isn't the match of the year for WWE divas, I don't know what is. Both worked hard. Both kept the crowd alive and kicking. Both even had some great near falls.
All too often, the women in this company get disrespected by fans. Not last night. They showed their skills, and I give kudos to them. Amazing job and a nice win for Beth!
3. Sheamus Looks Great
8 of 10Shemaus and Christian had a nice match. It was not amazing, but it served its purpose. That purpose was making Sheamus look better and better each passing day.
As I predicted, Sheamus won clean, and Christian made the match even better. Christian could lose for the next month and be fine. Sheamus needs to keep collecting wins. He is a part of the long-term future of this company. Christian is not.
Great job again WWE. The right man won.
2. Alberto Del Rio Wins!
9 of 10There was no other option. Cena will have his hands full teaming with The Rock next month, as well as having a common enemy in Awesome Truth. Remember The Rock and The Miz cutting promos on one another earlier this year? Yeah.
Del Rio retained the WWE title in a great Last Man Standing match. Cena looked strong in defeat, as he always will. Del Rio is still champion, as he will await a new opponent.
Don't look now, but Cena does not have a very good win-loss record on PPV this year. I am sure all of haters will still find reasons to complain and whine on Twitter all day, but Cena has been used to perfection this year.
Once again, keep up the wonderful work WWE!
1. Mark Henry Steals the "Show"
10 of 10Mark Henry is still the World Champion, and all the doubters/cynics can continue to hate him. The man is the best thing going on WWE TV today, and he proved it yet again last night.
With Big Show and Henry set to feud for awhile, it would make no sense to end it all now. This needed to continue, and what better finish than having the ring explode?
Yes, this was done eight years ago. Yes, Big Show was also involved. Yes, we all expected it once they climbed to the top rope.
My answer to those statements? Who cares? The live crowd went bonkers, and many fans did not even watch the product back in 2003 to know it occurred. What an amazing moment.
The icing on the cake was Mark Henry walking out on his own power. Not Big Show. Mark Henry walked out on his own two feet, as he continued his dominant run as World Champion!
