Breaking News: Latest On Christian Cage's Contract Talks!

Joe Burgett Dec 9, 2008

We have been hearing for about a month now that Christian Cage will be coming back to the WWE once his contract in TNA expires. And it seems like it will happen as I have just found out.

Cage's TNA contract expired this past week and TNA gave him another contract that was a good bit better than the one he had. However Cage has not signed it, and it seems he doesn't intend to.

By the same token, he has been offered a WWE contract that he has not said yes or no to. Cage's decision could come within the next week or two. But it seems he will be going back.

He has two close friends in the WWE right now. Edge, the current WWE Champion, and recently-signed Tomko. And that would most likely be his incentive to return. So right now all signs point to the WWE for Cage.

I have been covering this story on B/R for the entire time, and people have been saying many things about Cage on my articles about him.

Some believe he should stay in TNA, while others believe he should come back to the WWE. Some think that if he returns to the WWE that he will not be a factor and might be a good star in his return, but simmer down and be a mid-card.

Other believe if he goes back to the WWE, he will be in main-event status and be in the World Championship hunt the moment he arrives.

I have to agree that he will be a factor for a good while. He will be in the world title hunt the moment he arrives, like Chris Jericho was.

And like Jericho he probably will not win his first time in a WWE Championship match. I think he will be as CM Punk is now after he returns and is around a while. He will be a sort of main event mid-card.

He will be in a few main-event matches and still be in mid-card ones, possibly competing for the Intercontinental Title or United States Title. Whatever brand he goes to will determine the belt.

If he comes back and TNA makes him sign a 90-day no-compete clause, he will be able to compete around Wrestlemania time. Which may be a good thing for the WWE. They could possibly bring him back as a surprise and put him in a match.

Or they could have him surprisingly return and help out Edge in a match he is in. It all depends on what the WWE wants to do. But I'm sure they have ideas.

For now we have to wait on Cage to decide which company he will go to. Will it be TNA or the WWE? Which one do you think he will go with?
