Matt Ryan Injury: Updates on Falcons Star's Week 9 Status and Fantasy Value

Alex KayOct 24, 2011

The Atlanta Falcons won their second-straight game yesterday and pulled into a tie for second place in the NFC South.

Things could have been much different if Matt Ryan had not returned from what looked to be a gruesome ankle injury at the start of the third quarter.

As you can see, Ryan was about to step up to avoid pressure when LT Will Svitek stepped on his QB’s ankle, and Ryan collapsed awkwardly on his ankle/knee.

The Falcons’ star QB ended up just missing a single snap and came back to help his team secure their win over the Detroit Lions.

Falcons’ players are claiming that Cliff Avril was kicking at Ryan’s feet while he was writhing in pain, but no video evidence has surfaced to support this.

They are also upset that Ndamukong Suh was allegedly yelling to get the cart and get him off the field.

Ryan is going into a bye this week, and he returned to action in the game after suffering the minor injury, so as of right now there is absolutely no concern about his status in Week 9.

Keep it tuned here in case anything surfaces about lingering damage to Ryan’s knee or ankle over the next two weeks.
