Ndamukong Suh: Lions Star's Mean Streak Necessary to Be Dominant

Alex KayOct 24, 2011

Ndamukong Suh is one big, angry, nasty man.

Suh was already ‘honored’ as the third-meanest active NFL player by 287 of his peers.

Apparently Suh is looking to jump ahead of Ray Lewis and James Harrison next year as he has been accused once again of some downright dirty behavior on the gridiron.

The play in question happened early in the third quarter of the Detroit Lions game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Falcons QB Matt Ryan was feeling some pressure on a drop-back and went to step up in the pocket when his own lineman stepped on his ankle and which forces him to the turf in pain.

As the referee calls an injury timeout the controversy begins.

Roddy White told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution,

"

"I lost a whole lot of respect for 90 [Suh] today, and also 92 [Avril]. The [expletive] they were doing when Matt got hurt, that was unacceptable. ... Like 92 was kicking [Ryan's] feet, saying, 'Get him off the field.' We don't do stuff like that. We don't rally over guys when they get hurt. It was just inappropriate behavior. I mean, 'Get the cart?' Are you serious? Come on. When you compete, you never want to see a guy get hurt."

"

In this replay, I don’t see Suh anywhere near Ryan and Cliff Avril only briefly appears.

I highly doubt they were kicking him but I won’t disbelieve that they were saying to get the cart and get him off the field.

These men are highly competitive and Suh seems like he was born to attack quarterbacks. He is in a rhythm at that point and wants to continue hunting Chris Redman or whatever scrub backup the Falcons would put in the game after Ryan leaves.

Having a mean streak and saying nasty things is part of football. Do you think Reggie White or Charles Haley had nice things to say to opposing quarterbacks ever when they were on the field with them?

These linemen have one of the dirtiest jobs in football and being an absolutely cold-hearted savage is what separates the greats from the average joes.

If I am a Lions fan or a fan of football, I have no qualms with anything Suh says or does on the field as long as he is making plays and helping his team win.
