Urban Meyer: Former Florida Coach Should Avoid Miami Dolphins at All Costs
Lost in the shuffle of the Denver Broncos' comeback victory in Week 7—or the Tim Tebow comeback, as it is being called—is the fact that the Miami Dolphins are going to have a head coaching vacancy at some point soon. One interesting name that is being talked about for the job is Urban Meyer.
According to ProFootballTalk.com, Meyer, who was at the game because the Dolphins were honoring the 2009 Florida Gators BCS championship team, was seen standing next to team owner Stephen Ross:
"Owner Stephen Ross, whose clumsy pursuit of former Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh in January significantly undermined [Tony] Sparano, was spotted standing next to former Florida coach Urban Meyer on the sidelines near the end of Sunday’s "home" loss to the Broncos, sparking speculation that Meyer meets the definition of the superstar coach whom Ross covets.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
You can understand why the Dolphins would want to pursue Meyer. He is a Florida icon, and the fans would love him. However, I wouldn't hire him considering the way he left the Gators. If you recall, he resigned in 2009 but came back a few months later. Then he left for good after the 2010 season, citing family and health concerns.
Who is to say that he wouldn't do the same thing to the Dolphins?
If I am Meyer, I want nothing to do with this job. This team is a disaster right now. The Dolphins have no direction and no guidance, and they are at least four years away from contending in the AFC East.
The only appealing thing about being head coach of the Dolphins is that the job is in Miami. Other than that, it is hard to find anything that would lead any big-name coach to be interested in this team.
Meyer is at a point in his life where he can afford to be picky about what jobs he takes, and being head coach of the Dolphins is likely not at the top of his wish list.
All of this is just speculation right now, because Tony Sparano has yet to be fired and Meyer has yet to say whether or not he would be interested in getting back into coaching. But if/when he does return to the sidelines, odds are good that it will be for a college team and not in the NFL.
