Troy Polamalu: Hefty Fine for Phone Call Shows NFL Must Get Priorities in Order
There has been much controversy following the announcement of a $10,000 fine on Steeler's safety Troy Polamalu for the use of a cell phone on the sidelines of last week's game against Jacksonville.
There is no secret that Roger Goodell has been extremely strict when it comes to the enforcement of league rules and handing out fines.
It's no secret that the players to not approve of, or like, Goodell.

It's also no secret that the fans are beginning to get fed up with the nonsense as well.
It's not that Goodell should not be enforcing the rules. He has done a very good job at turning around the image of the NFL and making it a well disciplined league.
The problem is with the inconsistency and priority of his rulings.
This week there were plenty of fines, like always, handed out by the commissioner.
Jason Pierre-Paul was fined $10,000 for a roughing the passer penalty.
Brian Orakpo was fined $15,000 for a roughing the passer penalty.
A.J. Hawk was fined $10,000 for flipping the bird on national television.
Antonio Smith was fined $7,500 for for an unnecessary roughness call where he ripped off the helmet of an opponent.
The one that has caused head-scratching, is the $10,000 fine for Troy Polamalu for using a cell phone on the sideline.
The Steeler's trainer called Polamalu's wife after the safety was pulled from the game with a mild concussion. The phone was given to Polamalu so he could tell his wife that he was fine.
So, let's get this straight.
A player (Polamalu) gets fined $10,000 for letting his wife know that he is healthy, but another player (Smith) gets fined $7,500 for ripping off an opponents helmet.
Why is one player (Pierre-Paul) fined $10,000 for roughing the passer and another (Orakpo) gets a $15,000 fine?
Something just doesn't seem right there.
Goodell has been nothing but a dictator since taking over in the NFL. There needs to be a system put in place to balance out his horrible ego and control over the game that we all love.
At the end of the day, his rulings are just unbalanced and unfair. If there was a consistency to his rulings, then fine.
But there isn't. Every time a player does something wrong Goodell just pulls a number out of the air.
This has been a problem for awhile and it's slowly getting worse.
