WWE Vengeance 2011: Christian's Road to the Title Is Through Sheamus

The Doctor Chris MuellerOct 22, 2011

Christian will face off this Sunday against The Celtic Warrior Sheamus. This may not be an official number one contenders' match, but you can rest assured that the winner will want a title shot.

Christian has been in a rut lately since he lost the world championship. He has been losing more and more matches and seems to be falling further out of the world title hunt.

A win over Sheamus on Sunday could put him back in the running to get a shot at Mark Henry's title, that is if Henry makes it out of Vengeance with his title.

Sheasmus on the other hand, has had a bit of a resurgence ever since he turned baby-face. His new direction is one I was hoping would happen for awhile.

As a baby-face Sheamus has grown in his mic skills and his in-ring style. Working with a long time veteran like Christian can only improve what is already a good foundation for success.

I was one of the people who thought Sheamus was pushed to being WWE Champion way too soon in his career, but now I feel he has worked his way up to being a solid main event star.

Big Show and Mark Henry could easily be involved in a program for another couple of months, but that does not mean Christian and Sheamus can't be in the mix as well.

This match is not for any title, but it is for pride. Christian and Sheamus have been going back and forth for a little while now and this match could finally put their feud to rest, but somehow I doubt it.

Christian has had his haters ever since he and Edge parted ways years ago, and he proved them wrong by winning the world title in not one, but two different companies.

Now he seems to be losing steam, which is a shame since so many people rooted for him for so long, only to have him finally reach that pinnacle of success, just to be knocked back down again.

I don't think Christian will go on to set the record for most world titles, but I do believe he will be champion again someday, the question is when?

Sheamus is another superstar who I think is bound to have a belt around his waist sometime soon, so the outcome of this match is kind of a toss up for me.

If I had to pick a winner I would say Sheamus will probably win, but Christian needs the win more so it could go either way.

Who do you think will win?
