Fantasy Football Week 7: Cleveland Browns and Other Sleeper Defenses

Richard LangfordOct 22, 2011

The Cleveland Browns' solid pass rush is going against an amazingly poor pass blocking team in the Seattle Seahawks. This should result in points in all kinds of ways. They are not the only defense that should come out of nowhere to have solid fantasy days. Read more about the Browns and two other Week 7 sleeper defenses.

Cleveland Browns

The Browns and the Seahawks are going to play a low scoring game. It is hard to see how either of these offenses is going to move the ball on the opposing defense.

The Browns have given up many yards on the ground, but they are solid on yards per carry. Given that the Seahawks are a poor running team, this means the Browns should be able to force them into passing situations.

This is where the Browns will get points. The Browns are fourth in the NFL with an 8.55 sack percentage. The Seahawks are dead last with a 10.2 sacked percentage.

The Browns will not only get some sacks, but likely some turnovers along the way.

Washington Redskins

Cam Newton is putting up yards and some points this season, but he is also adding interceptions to his stat line as if they were going out of style. Newton has nine picks in six games.

Meanwhile, the Redskins have done a decent job of hauling in picks. They are 15th in the league getting one interceptions per game.

The Redskins have a very stout run defense, and this will cause Newton to have to take to the air often. This is going to result in a few sacks and a few turnovers.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are likely facing a team starting Kyle Boller at QB. This is almost a guarantee of at least one interception.

The Raiders will try to limit what Boller has to do on offense to beat the Chiefs by running the ball. This will be easier said than done though.

The Chiefs are 21st in the NFL in rushing yards allowed per game, but their rush defense is not as bad as that number indicates. They are allowing opponents to rush for just 3.8 yards per carry against them.

This means they should be able to force Kyle Boller into passing situations, and that should result in points for the Chiefs.
