WWE Vengeance 2011: CM Punk and Alberto Del Rio Will Be Best Feud of the Year

CM Punk has taken over as the biggest draw in the WWE, and a long-term plan with Punk as the WWE Champion or involved in the title picture is the right move for the WWE.

While Punk is the hottest commodity right now, John Cena still has the consistency to garnish a title shot whenever he pleases, but the soon-to-be feud with The Rock will have Cena preoccupied up until WrestleMania.

The Rock and John Cena don’t need the WWE title for their bout to be significant, and honestly, CM Punk doesn’t need the belt to be relevant with the fans, but Alberto Del Rio does. That’s why ADR needs to hold the belt and screw CM Punk a few times before he eventually wins it back.

Wrestle Zone is reporting about the WWE’s long-term plans for CM Punk and the WWE Title:

Early WrestleMania 28 plans are considering CM Punk as the top choice for a shot at the WWE Title at the big PPV. While there is still back-and-forth discussion over whether or not The Rock vs. John Cena will be for the title, the feeling is that by making the bout a title match, the match finish would almost be a giveaway as no one expects The Rock to leave WrestleMania the WWE Champion.

What this means is that the WWE will be finally pushing the most talented wrestler on their roster, and, top to bottom, in and out of the ring, CM Punk is the best the WWE has to offer.

Pushing him is the least they can do for the star.

The only question will be whether or not Punk can carry Alberto Del Rio. But with every passing day, ADR gets better on the mic and in the ring. Del Rio is one of the best in the business as well, and the feud between he and Punk could be one for the ages.

If WWE makes Del Rio look like a strong heel that will do anything to win while still allowing Punk to be the renegade he has become in the eyes of the fans, they will have an epic matchup waiting to happen.

While I would rather see CM Punk and Stone Cold Steve Austin battle, this match with Austin sounds like something they could pull off for next year’s WrestleMania.
