WWE Vengeance 2011 Results: The Top 9 Challengers for the WWE Title

David LevinOct 23, 2011

This one really gets to me.

The ring was destroyed. The champion proved he could wrestle in a new type of match. And the challenger was attacked by The Awesome Truth.

AGAIN.

What's a guy to do to get a clean match these days?

Cena and Del Rio fought in a "Last Man Standing Match" and again, The Awesome Truth showed their violence in a PPV event.

This looks like it is becoming habit forming.

But with the win, Del Rio remains champion, much like I thought. And with his win, the list of contenders got a little longer.

We may now see face vs. face to determine who gets another shot at gold.

And we may find out more why Awesome Truth and Kevin Nash have to include themselves in a PPV event.

Someone Else

1 of 9

There is always a surprise or two on Raw and Smackdown. There could be a new superstar to grace the canvas or someone who instantly gets a huge push.

We never know what is going to happen.

Sheamus

2 of 9

He could join the fray and jump into the mix. His run as a face is drawing more support.

Since he is still considered a player on Smackdown, we shall see if he and other wrestlers from the brand get a chance at the title as well.

Mason Ryan

3 of 9

He seems to be the next big deal in the company.

While others are toiling (Drew McIntyre, Daniel Bryan), he seems to be getting a push, and the new persona works for him.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

Jack Swagger

4 of 9

He has been a champion before.

It remains to be seen if he and Dolph Ziggler can truly remain a competitive tag team together with the in-ring fighting over Vickie Guerrero (I cringe when I think of that).

But Swagger has a chance to be a very good champion again.

Triple H

5 of 9

I think he gets into the title picture now no matter what.

Triple H is able to wrestle like the assassin he is and beat the hell out of whoever he wants.

And he looks as good in the ring as he did five years ago.

It could happen.

Christian

6 of 9

Now that the "Coalition" appears to be reforming, the former world title holder is as prominent as ever.

Christian could challenge for the title with the right conditions and the right circumstances. They are not the same, and a title run is not as far-fetched as you think.

Dolph Ziggler

7 of 9

He is the United States Champion, after all, and that means he should be second in line for the title.

But we all know this is not the case when it comes to building matches these days.

He still deserves a title shot.

CM Punk

8 of 9

He needs a solid title run or to challenge for the title.

When Punk is chasing the title, he is as good as there is in the business.

Maybe as good as anyone in the last 15 years.

John Cena

9 of 9

It's hard to have a match anywhere in the arena, fight your most hated foe and have your ass beat by The Awesome Truth.

But again, for the second time of the night, that is what happened.

Cena, still dealing with Alberto Del Rio in a ring that was abused by Big Show and Mark Henry, fought the good fight but did not win.

You have to think he will still be a top contender. But now CM Punk may have something to say about that.
