MLB World Series 2011: Game 3 Winner Will Go on to Win Series

Michael MillOct 21, 2011

It's been 10 years since a team has blown a lead needing just three outs in a World Series game.

That changed with the Rangers' ninth inning rally against the Cardinals in Game 2 yesterday evening.

The team's have Friday off to travel to Texas. They will then resume World Series action for three straight nights.

Saturday night will mark Game 3, and the most important game of the series.

So important, in fact, that the winner will likely go on to become World Series champions.

The St. Louis Cardinals made one of the most improbable runs to even make the playoffs this year. Right now they should be up 2-0 in the World Series.

You can put it on the crucial error by Albert Pujols, or the meltdown by Jason Motte.

You can place the blame wherever you want, but the fact remains the series is now tied 1-1.

After two games it appears that the Cardinals have the advantage on the field.

This series will come down to how they respond on the road after a heartbreaking loss in the ninth inning.

The immediate response from the ballclub leaves a lot of questions.

It was noted that veterans like Matt Holliday and Lance Berkman were missing in the clubhouse for comments after the game.

It's a reaction that could go one of two ways.

The Cardinals will continue to crumble or they will respond with a vengeance.

This series is going to be all about momentum. Whoever can get that momentum with a Game 3 win will have a serious advantage in the following games.
