MLB: Best Umpire Strike-Three Call Videos from Around the Web

For the most part, officials in sports are not supposed to garner much attention and are simply there to regulate the game. As a general statement, if an umpire stays out of the news, he is doing a good job.

However, for some umpires punching out a hitter on a third strike is their chance to be in the spotlight if only for a few seconds. While everyone punches out batters a little different, some guys take it to the next level and truly put on a show.

So here is a look at some of the funnier umpire strike-three call videos from around the Internet, entertaining examples of umpires taking things a bit too far.

Bunny Hop Punchout

Simple but effectively entertaining, the umpire at this minor league game incorporated a little hop into his punchout and while it is not quite as funny as the ones to come, it is certainly unique.

Too bad there were only what looks like 100 people on hand to witness it.

Macarena Lead-in to Punchout

This one is from a game in the Dominican, and while the umpire's call is not the most exciting, it is his ridiculous hand gestures leading up to the punchout that earn this one a spot on the list.

It looks as though he is going to break into a full-on Macarena.

Getting the Leg Involved in the Punchout

While not as impressively vocal as some of the others on here, the pose this umpire strikes on a third strike is excited to say the least, as his leg curl is odd-looking to say the least.

Somehow it is reminiscent of watching someone bowl who doesn't quite know how to bowl, but maybe that's just me.

Awkward Arm Flail Punchout

This one, apparently taking place at a high school game of some sort, it funny in the "laughing at you" sort of way.

The umpire's punchout is not so much a punchout as it is a slightly overweight man flailing his arms around and making noise.

One thing is for sure, the man taking the video certainly enjoyed watching it.

The Backpedaling Punchout

Emphatically ringing up a batter is one thing, but doing so in a Little League game when kids are playing is questionable at best.

This umpire seems more concerned with putting on a show that with the game that is going on, but at the very least, the crowd seemed entertained.

Dancing Umpire Who Sounds Like Adam Sandler

Another example of an over-emphatic umpire at a Little League game, this one earns points for the simple fact that the umpire sounds an awful lot like Adam Sandler.

Throw in the dance move that caps off the strike-three call, and you have one of the better punchouts you'll ever see.

Leslie Nielsen

The performance by Leslie Nielsen as an umpire in the movie The Naked Gun are without a doubt the umpiring shenanigans for which all others are compared.

In a movie featuring Reggie Jackson attempting to murder the Queen of England, Nielsen's scene as umpire is without question the funniest in the film.
