New York Yankees: 5 Other Places Brian Cashman Could End Up

Solomon RyanOct 21, 2011

You either love them or you hate them.

That can be said for the players and managing staff of the New York Yankees.

Although the Yankees have a massive payroll, there is no ignoring the facts. They have been a World Series contender every year, and a lot of credit goes to their general manager, Brian Cashman.

There is no question some of Brian Cashman’s investments have not paid off, but the good outweighs the bad by a landslide.

He is one of the best general managers in the game and most teams would do anything to get their hands on a guy like Cashman.

Here is a list of five teams Cashman could end up if the Yankees let him go.

Baltimore Orioles

1 of 5

The Orioles have a lot of young talent and are just a few good signings away from being a decent team.

It will be hard to compete with the other teams in the American League East, but if Cashman is looking for a challenge, the Orioles could be the perfect choice because he has some potential to work with there.

Chicago White Sox

2 of 5

General Manager Kenny Williams looked like a genius when he won the World Series with the White Sox in 2006, but since then, they have only made one playoff appearance.

Ozzi Guillen already left so Kenny Williams may have to find a new home as well.

Los Angeles Angels

3 of 5

The Angels have had some horrible signings of late. General manager Tony Reagins signed Torii Hunter and Vernon Wells to contracts they didn’t deserve.

His contract doesn’t expire, but Cashman would do a better job.

Houston Astros

The Astros are not looking too good right now. They are one of, if not the worst team in the Major Leagues.

If Cashman really wanted to be known as one of the greatest general managers of all time, rebuilding the Astros would certainly put him on the list.

When you bring a guy like Cashman in, it changes a team’s attitude. Immediately, there is a winning feel to the club, and that could be just what the Astros need.

1. Tampa Bay Rays

5 of 5

If Cashman wanted to get revenge on the Yankees quickly, the Rays would be the perfect fit.

They always have one of the best minor league systems and a lot of young talented players in the big leagues already.

If the Rays let Cashman spend some money, they could be instant World Series contenders.
