MLB World Series 2011 Schedule: Rangers Can Save Series with Win Tonight

T.J. McaloonOct 20, 2011

So, what if the Rangers lost last night in Game 1 of the World Series? Who cares if the winner of Game 1 of the World Series has gone onto win the series 61 percent of the time?

And who cares if six of the last seven and 11 of the last 13 World Series champions have won Game 1?

That is why the Rangers must win tonight’s game, and why the Rangers will sweep the rest of the games remaining in this series.

A win tonight, in Game 2, still makes St. Louis lose their home-field advantage. A Rangers win tonight sends this series back to Arlington tied up at 1-1, with the next three games all from Arlington.

Going for the Rangers tonight will be Colby Lewis, who according to Michael Young, is someone that the Rangers have come to depend on during this postseason, "Obviously, we've come to depend on him in the postseason. And he's always come through, and that's what we're looking forward to [in Game 2].''

Lewis is just as excited about getting a chance to save the season for the Rangers tonight, “You can't really worry about your what-ifs or anything like that. You just focus on the one pitch that you have at hand and do it. I mean, it's comfortable, it's exciting, the stands are packed, towels are waving. It's kind of hard not to get pumped up for it, you know?''

Last year, Colby had the only win on the Rangers staff during their World Series matchup against the San Francisco Giants.

Against the Giants, they went back to Arlington down 0-2 and lost the series in five games.

This year, they turn to Lewis a game early to save their season.

Lewis will give them a dominating performance tonight against the Cardinals, sending this Rangers team back home tied 1-1.

As we said before, get your antlers up Rangers fans, it’s time to save your season tonight!
