NFL Predictions Week 7: Washington Redskins & Road Underdogs That Will Surprise

Patrick ClarkeOct 20, 2011

There are a handful of NFL teams taking to the road as underdogs in Week 7, many of them facing tough competition, like the winless Indianapolis Colts, who will face the Saints in New Orleans.

Others, like the Washington Redskins, are facing lesser teams, but are still projected to fall short because of recent struggles.

Here are three underdogs that will surprise NFL fans in Week 7 with impressive road efforts:

Washington Redskins (3-2)

The Redskins will visit Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers in Week 7, looking to keep pace with the New York Giants in the NFC East.

An ugly loss at home last week to division rival Philadelphia has many wondering about Washington's chances of continuing its early season success.

Rex Grossman's four interceptions last Sunday gave way to John Beck being named the starter this week.

Beck and the offense should have plenty of success in Carolina this week. The Panthers give up tons of points, and their rush defense is among the worst in the league.

Seattle Seahawks (2-3)

As the Seahawks showed in Week 5 in their shocking road win over the New York Giants, they can play well when they want to.

Seattle made the playoffs a season ago and even won a playoff game, although many forget.

The Browns are returning home from a deflating loss at Oakland last week, with a struggling Peyton Hillis playing hardly any role at all in the offense.

Seattle will give Cleveland fits in Week 7 and will likely drop the Browns to 2-4 by the end of weekend.

Kansas City Chiefs (2-3)

Another 2-3 team with lots of momentum is the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs are coming off a bye week, and before that, two straight wins.

Kansas City is headed to Oakland in Week 7 for a matchup with the Raiders, who are still facing quarterback questions following their early-week trade for Carson Palmer.

The Chiefs running game isn't as solid as the Raiders, but still it's among the top 10 in the league, averaging more than 127 yards on the ground per contest.

Matt Cassel is improving on his poor start and has seven touchdowns and just one interception in his last three games.

Watch for the Chiefs to play spoiler to Oakland's fast start in 2011.
