Yankees Official: Brian Cashman “Was Able To Get Some Business Done”

Kevin RozellDec 7, 2008

Looks like everyone is starting to roll into Las Vegas. The hot stove should be starting to heat up as soon as tonight.

Peter Abraham heard that a team official said Cashman “was able to get some business done.” I don’t know exactly what to think of this, but maybe that means he met with CC?

It doesn’t get any better then this. Should be fun.

My keen news sense told me to try and ask Brian Cashman a question or two. But he had his phone pressed against his ear from the moment he walked outside until he stepped into the cab. But one team official said that Cashman “was able to get some business done.”

That likely means he met with somebody. I haven’t been able to confirm it yet, but it could well have been CC Sabathia.

I did notice that Cashman was wearing one of his World Series rings. It’s unusual for Cashman to wear one of the paperweight-sized rings. Perhaps he was trying to impress somebody.

rotoworld.com reports:

Free agent CC Sabathia has told friends he is expecting the Brewers to upgrade their five-year, $100 million offer in coming days, SI.com’s Jon Heyman reports.

It’s been speculated that the Brewers would go to $110 million over six years, though that hardly sounds better than the original offer to us. The Brewers’ current offer already contains deferred money, so it’s not actually worth $20 million per year. They’re going to have to go higher in order to have a realistic chance of keeping him.
