WWE Vengeance 2011: Cody Rhodes Will Shine in Spotlight vs. Randy Orton
Randy Orton has been in the main event mix for so long that the idea of him in a feud with Cody Rhodes at Vengeance is a little hard to come to grips with. But since he is in the match, he should put his ego aside and allow Rhodes to shine.
WWE has gotten, for lack of a better word, stale over the last five years. The same two guys – Orton and John Cena – have been main-eventing every pay-per-view show, and this has made it impossible for the company to make new stars.
There has been a slight change in philosophy the last few months, with guys like CM Punk, Mark Henry and now Rhodes, being put into prime positions. They have not gotten over at the level of Orton and Cena, but they are on the rung below.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Rhodes’ time in the spotlight has come. His work on the microphone and in the ring over the last few months has gotten better, though at times it is still comical, and the company wants to give him a match against one of its two biggest stars.
Orton has never been the easiest wrestler in the world to get along with. He has a certain style that he likes to work, and anyone who tries to change it gets buried or fired.
That said, if Orton has a shred of dignity in his body, and WWE gives them the time to put on a good match, Rhodes has to look like a strong heel.
Rhodes does not even have to win this match, just as long as he looks good and is able to hang with Orton or even carry him to a better match than expected. If he does that, he will be moved to the top of the SmackDown heels. If he doesn’t, he alone will be blamed and the company will bury him.
This is Rhodes’ moment to make himself into a superstar. Very few wrestlers get this opportunity, and they never get it again. I believe that he will have the match of his life and be thought of as one of the top heels in WWE.
It won’t happen until next year, but there will come a day very soon when we are talking about Cody Rhodes as the World Heavyweight Champion.
