NHL Trade Scenarios: 12 Enforcers Who Could Be on the Move at the Deadline
Enforcers play a very important role in the NHL, and are often needed to give energy and turn the momentum of a game around.
Whenever the team needs to heighten the intensity during a game it's up to the enforcers to take matters into their own hands, and play with a physical edge that will rub off on their teammates.
Let's take a look at 12 enforcers who could be on the move this season.

Jody Shelley
1 of 12Jody Shelley is a quality enforcer who always has his teammates' back, but other than being physical and going after the other team he doesn't provide too much to the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Flyers could trade Shelley for a physical presence that would add more offense to the team after they lost offensive stars in the summer.
Daniel Carcillo
2 of 12Sooner or later the Chicago Blackhawks will realize that Daniel Carcillo isn't very good and won't offer them too much this season.
Chicago would be better off trading Carcillo for someone who will help them now, and in the future. Carcillo won't have a major impact on the Blackhawks this season.
Chris Neil
3 of 12Chris Neil is a quality physical presence who can really add the toughness needed to a team that is soft like the Vancouver Canucks.
The Ottawa Senators would be wise to part for Neil this season, especially if a contending team is willing to overpay for him in order to get tougher for the playoffs.
Tanner Glass
4 of 12Tanner Glass is a tough, physical player who plays the game hard on every shift. There could be a contending team that calls the Winnipeg Jets this season to see if Glass is available.
Like he did for the Vancouver Canucks last season, Glass could add a physical edge to a team, as well as some decent offensive production.
Zenon Konopka
5 of 12Zenon Konopka is not afraid to drop the gloves with anyone, and would add a real physical presence to any team that would acquire him.
It likely wouldn't take much to pry him from the Ottawa Senators, and his cheap contract makes him an attractive late season move if a team needs more toughness heading into the playoffs.
Dale Weise
6 of 12Dale Weise is a decent enforcer, but the Vancouver Canucks could do better. The Canucks need a power forward who is going to bring a physical presence and score goals.
They need to find one quick or they won't survive the playoffs, and that means they might have to give up a lot of talent for a top PF.
David Steckel
7 of 12David Steckel is a 29-year-old veteran who can add some size to any team who lacks a net front presence or some veteran leadership.
He wouldn't add a ton to a team, but at 6'6", 215 lbs, he would help a desperate team be a bit more physical.
Sean O'Donnell
8 of 12Sean O'Donnell is a good veteran who is nearing the end of his career, and would really help a Stanley Cup contending team that doesn't have anyone with a lot of deep playoff experience.
O'Donnell's offensive abilities aren't what they used to be, but he's not a liability either.
Matt Cooke
9 of 12Would the Pittsburgh Penguins consider trading Matt Cooke? Maybe, and certainly they would if they received an offer they could not refuse.
If Cooke's offensive production continues at its current pace or close to it, he could be a valuable commodity that a team may overpay for.
Krys Barch
10 of 12Krys Barch is yet another player a contending team could add in order to improve the amount of physical depth on its roster.
Barch hasn't been much of a factor with the Dallas Stars this season, and it's unlikely they would be sorry to see him go.
Eric Godard
11 of 12One of the better enforcers in the NHL, Eric Godard would give any team a quality physical presence who would have his teammate's back.
Godard would bring great toughness to a contending team, and wouldn't be costly addition either.
Sean Avery
12 of 12Sean Avery is currently not on an NHL team, but regardless he would be one of the top enforcers available if he could convince a team he will behave on and off the ice.
Avery could really help a playoff team down the stretch if he's mentally into the team's cause.
