WWE Divas: The Sisters of Salvation Will Do No Good

Tyson JonesOct 19, 2011

Beth Phoenix is the WWE Divas champion and currently has formed a team with Natalya known as the Divas of Destruction, though they are alternatively known as The Sisters of Salvation.

Personally, I think Divas of Destruction is a more fitting name, not just because they can cause havoc in the Divas division, but because their presence does no good for the Divas.

Many people are glad that after two attempts, Phoenix finally took the Divas Championship from Kelly Kelly. That said, I have to say that it doesn't really help things. The general consensus is that there is finally a real wrestler holding the title, but things can't really advance now.

What's the point of having a monster when you legitimately have nobody to stop her.

Kelly Kelly has been defeated, Natalya is too buddy-buddy, it's too early to think that Eve can take it and Kharma isn't due until around WrestleMania.

Now, I can appreciate the fact that Phoenix is a good wrestler, but she's not very entertaining unless you're a hardcore fan.

Not saying Kelly Kelly is all that great either. In fact, the only real entertaining Divas I can think of would be A.J., Maryse and Layla (depending on how she is when she comes back).

So the WWE has three choices. It will either make us wait until we can get Kharma back, which is months away, have Natalya take the belt at the end of the year (which means we'll really have to wait, because if one monster kills another, then it's just a bigger monster) or have Kelly Kelly win the title back.

The IWC, in all its markdom, lets out a collective "Are you serious, Bro?"

More to the point, this is an unbelievable victory for K2, unless she goes through some sort of character change (or maybe has help, but that would work around to probably changing either Eve or Kelly heel, which probably wouldn't work.)

I just seems to me that the WWE has backed itself into a corner with its Divas.

On one hand, we could use less barbie dolls, but on the other, we do need an imposing force or two between a healthy roster of women. There's four in Tamina (once she improves), the Divas of Doom and Kharma.

So what do we do? Do we fire some of these woman, and keep two or three? Or do we hire less pretty faces (keeping in mind that pretty faces mean money, while the same can't be said for good in-ring work)?

The WWE needs to do something in order to even out the playing field a bit more when it comes to the Divas.

Kelly Kelly vs. Beth Phoenix is the female version of Evan Bourne vs. Mason Ryan. An expected squash match, and in the words of Peter Griffin, "To titilate us with any thoughts otherwise is just bogus."

Granted, Bourne has a chance against Ryan, but I've yet to see a Diva hit a jumping knee the way Bourne does, and until then, I stand by this.

I know that we're supposed to suspend belief when watching WWE. I'm one of the biggest advocates of that, but the men's division does it sparingly, at least in comparison to the Divas.

I'm not saying WWE shouldn't give girls with figures like Alicia and Kelly Kelly shots at the title, but they really shouldn't be in one-on-one feuds with gals like Nattie and Phoenix.

Basically, the WWE can't have the Divas squashing each other, especially not in Phoenix and Nattie's case, because she has to make it look like she can lose that belt.

The same can be said for Kharma. What good does it do to destroy an entire division of competition? We get that from the male division enough.

The WWE has to find some sort of balance between beauty and beast for more of its Divas and the sad thing is, they have that to an extent in FCW and with some of its other girls: A.J., Raquel Diaz, Naomi, etc.

Here's hoping something changes in the WWE's roster in the coming months with the new signings for FCW. Maybe we can get some of the girls that are ready to be promoted.
