WWE Vengeance 2011: Putting Tag Titles on Ziggler and Swagger Is Wrong Move

T.J. McaloonOct 19, 2011

In the past, the WWE has made decisions that caused their fans to question what in the heck they were thinking. They have had wrestlers win that made no sense in the story line, or they’ve had wrestlers win that did not help their character.

This will be the case again for the WWE if they give the Tag Team titles to the team of Dolph ZIggler and Jack Swagger.

On their own, they are two accomplished singles wrestlers. Swagger is a former World Heavyweight Champion and Ziggler is the current United States Champion. On their own, they can perform with the best that the WWE has to offer.

But together, they do nothing for each other.

Their tag team is a classic teaming of two wrestlers that started out as singles competitors, but were forced together as a tag team.

Heck, the team that they're facing at Vengeance, Air Boom, composed of Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne, is the same type of team as Swagger and Ziggler.

However, the state of the WWE Tag Team division as a whole is best saved for another column. This one is dedicated to Ziggler and Swagger.

The only thing that brought this team of Ziggler and Swagger together is their manager, Vickie Guerrero.

Guerrero started out as Ziggler's manager, as Dolph started his rise up the singles chart. She helped him to his United States title and has been able to guide him through a lot of big matches.

However, she was the one who added Swagger in order to help Dolph out in certain title matches.

At first, the two did not mesh, as is often the case when you bring two dominant personalities into one team (see: Heat, Miami in the NBA).

But, as of late, the two have developed into a nice team, with each of them scoring individual wins while helping each other out.

Yet, even though they are acting like a team, they’re still two individual superstars being forced into a team.

It’s why putting the tag team titles on this team does nothing for the belts and does nothing for their individual character's rise in the WWE.

Keep the belts on the team of Air Boom, whose wrestlers mesh better as a team, have nothing going for them individually, have the same style of wrestling and have matching color schemes in their tights.
