Tim Tebow: 7 (Somewhat Humorous) Things to Expect in Denver's Game vs. Miami
Tim Tebow, following a Week 5 performance where he came in as relief for Kyle Orton and a Week 6 on a bye, will start this Sunday when the Denver Broncos take on the Miami Dolphins in South Florida.
The media has been abuzz that the former Florida Gator has finally been given the green light for a starting job in the NFL.
Whether Tebow will be successful remains to be seen. One thing is for sure, though, the folks who attend Sunday's game at Sun Life Stadium are in for a treat!
7. A Small Group of Dolphins' Fans Shouting "We Want Orton"
1 of 7Yes, everyone knows that the trade deadline has passed, yet there will still be those Miami fans who will fill the need to bring up the fact that the 'Fins were not able to put together a trade deal for Kyle Orton.
This past offseason, when many analysts believed that Denver would ultimately give the starting quarterback job to Tim Tebow, Kyle Orton, who is a great quarterback in his own right, was considered a top prospect on the trading block.
Miami was, and still is, in desperate need of a quarterback. Mark my words, someone will feel the need to shout "We Want Orton."
Kyle Orton might answer: "I wish."
6. At Least 10 Signs with "John 3:16" Written on Them
2 of 7Tim Tebow frequently made a statement, inspired people, and annoyed people when he would famously write Bible verses on his eyeblacks during Florida Gators games.
Tebow is very open about his religion. He is a devout Christian who even appeared in a Super Bowl commercial with his Mom supporting pro-life beliefs.
Tebow will not have any verses on his eyeblacks, but a few "Johns" will definitely be flying around the stands.
5. Tim Tebow Will Plow His Way into the End Zone for a Touchdown
3 of 7Tim Tebow was easy to spot on the field during his college years; he was the 240-pound quarterback running upfield like a fullback.
While this formula was remarkably successful for him at Florida, it has been frequently criticized by NFL analysts as unconventional and unrealistic in pro football.
Tebow definitely needs to learn to be a pocket passer, but he will still take the opportunity to plow through defenders from time to time when he knows he can be successful doing so.
4. Brandon Marshall Will Have a Very Impressive Game; Few Will Notice
4 of 7For whatever reason, Brandon Marshall is frequently considered one of the most overrated receivers in the NFL.
I am never able to really understand why. He was an absolute monster in Denver, has had four straight 1,000+ yard seasons, and already has 422 receiving yards in five games this year.
Marshall is one of the best in the league. He just collected six receptions for 109 yards on the one and only Darrelle Revis!
He'll have another good game this Sunday, despite a pitiful quarterback situation, and no one will give him any credit.
3. Tebow Will Throw One Pick and All of His Critics Will Get Way Too Excited
5 of 7Tebow's critics love to rag on him for his lack of accuracy, despite him completing nearly 67 percent of his passes in college.
Obviously, NFL football is very different from college football, yet Tebow is far from an inaccurate passer.
This interception will not prove that he is, yet all his critics will love to argue that it proves their point.
2. There Will Be More Florida Fans Than Dolphins or Broncos Fans
6 of 7The irony that Tebow's first game as the bona fide starting QB is in South Florida is unbelievable.
Tebow is an icon in Gainesville and every area nearby, and I have no doubt that quite a few Florida Gator faithful will be making the trip to Miami to do some dirty dancing on Saturday night and watch their beloved Tim Tebow play on Sunday.
The real question is, what will we see more of? Tim Tebow Florida jerseys or Tim Tebow Broncos jerseys?
One thing is for sure: expect some alligator clamping (or whatever that Florida cheering sequence is supposed to represent) in the stands.
1. Tebow Throws a TD; Tons of "#tebowtime" Tweets Will Follow (Pun Intended)
7 of 7This touchdown will come in the third quarter, and it will be an eight-yard post route to wide receiver Eric Decker.
This will be the moment in the game that everyone (Tebow fans, football fans, ESPN producers) will be waiting for.
It won't decide or determine anything about Tebow's future as an NFL quarterback, but it will be a symbolic display of Denver's future.
