NFL Trade Rumors: Indianapolis Colts and Best Destinations for DT Juqua Parker

Zach KruseOct 18, 2011

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Philadelphia Eagles have talked with other teams about potential deals before today's NFL trading deadline. One of the names most frequently mentioned is defensive lineman Jaqua Parker.

This came from the Inquirer:

"

"The Eagles are seen as both potential sellers and buyers in the market because they do have depth at certain spots, but are also light in other areas. For instance, with defensive end Brandon Graham eligible to come off the physically unable to perform list next week, a veteran like Juqua Parker could be expendable. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday that Parker's name has been brought up in trade discussions."

Eagles head coach Andy Reid also didn't shy away from talking about the potential of making a trade this week.

"

“If that’s the route we go. We’ve got an abundance at a couple different positions so we’re not forcing any one position to do anything. People ask those types of questions ...so you evaluate what’s going to benefit the Philadelphia Eagles the most when you do these deals."

"

If the Eagles did in fact want to move Parker before today's deadline, which teams would be most interested?

The list would have to start with the Indianapolis Colts, who are thin along the defensive line and could use a body like Parker.

The Chicago Bears are never one to shy away from defensive line help, and Parker's 14 sacks over the past two seasons are attractive. He could provide depth at the position and help collapse the pocket in passing situations. The Bears haven't been as dominant defensively as they were a season ago.

The Patriots have been looking for pass rush for the better part of two seasons. Some have speculated that New England has looked around at the deadline for pass rushers.

Gil Brandt of NFL.com hypothesized that the Pats should trade for Vikings defensive end Jared Allen. That deal wasn't realistic, but Parker could be had for more reasonable price than any top flight pass rusher.

As New England plays a mix of both 3-4 and 4-3, Parker could be a fit both at end and inside.
