MLB Rumors: Albert Pujols' Myriad of Options Is Bad News for Cardinals
The St. Louis Cardinals have enjoyed the immense success of Albert Pujols for over a decade. Now they have to suffer through the very real possibility that he could leave.
There are not many things that would quell the loss of one of the best hitters to ever step into a major league batter's box. In what may be a fitting twist of fate, the Cardinals may capture another World Series, giving them the only bandage big enough for the gash Pujols would leave.
The season is not yet over, and we are inundated with the possibilities that await Albert Pujols. It is still likely that Pujols will wear the same uniform he always has next season.

However, the best hitter in the game has some thinking to do, and many of the options are tantalizing. Phil Rogers of The Chicago Tribune reports the Texas Rangers may vie for the services of King Albert.
If Pujols is looking for a team to give him a consistent shot at the postseason, he could hardly ask for a better destination. The Rangers have proven themselves committed to winning at every turn.
ESPN's Jason A. Churchill has an MLB rundown that states the Chicago Cubs, LA Angels and Dodgers could also be in play.
If Pujols wants to take a step up in markets, the chances are there for him. Pujols would be a marketing superstar if he landed in a market such as Chicago or Los Angeles.
There are hurdles that would have to be addressed in Chicago and for the Dodgers in the way of payroll. But landing a player like Pujols would have those teams scrambling to make room on the budget for his salary.
It's not often that an athlete can play out his wildest fantasies. The question of "what if I played there?" Has to play into the daily thought process of superstars.
However, the Cardinals should be safe from disaster. I am confident they will throw everything they have at Pujols, and keep the best in the biz safely in St. Louis.
Pujols is a once in a generation player, and you don't just let them leave without a fight. The Cardinals are in for what should be a world-class bidding war, but this guy is worth it.
There are only two options for the Cards; they will sign Pujols to a tremendous contract, or they will lose him for ever. I stand by every Cards fan that would opt for them to dole out every last cent to keep him.
