If the Yankees Were to Trade Cano, They Would Ask for Kershaw or Billingsley
The idea that a trade like this will get done is just absurd. It would really have to come out of nowhere, as everything you pretty much heard is just a bunch of rumors. I would be pretty surprised if anything happened. All indications say that Cano will be our starting 2ndbasemen next year. The Yankees wouldn’t send Kevin Long to the Domincan Republic to work on his swing, if they intended on trading him away.
If I wouldn’t trade Cano in a deal for Peavy, then why would I do it for Billinglsey or Kershaw? In my mind, Peavy is better then both of them. I think Billingsley is a terrific pitcher, and Kershaw has the potential to become one, but I wouldn’t trade Cano for them. Cano is coming off a bad year so his stock is down, and at the same time I don’t think you can just give up on a guy like him with so much talent.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Kevin Long spent 6 days in the Domincan Republic with Robbie and he has high hopes for his 2009 season.
This is what he said:
"“You’re going to see a huge difference visually,” Long told MLB.com.
“You’ll see less movement, an explosive, compact swing, and you’ll probably see more home runs. I think his average will go way up, and I think his walks will go way up.”
Buster Olney: If Yanks trade Cano, it would be for Kershaw or Billingsley. Then Matt Kemp…
"The Yankees also have had internal discussions about second baseman Orlando Hudson, whom they would sign, presumably, if they were to move closer to the long-considered swap of Robinson Cano to the Dodgers (or some other team). If the Yankees were to trade Cano to L.A., they almost certainly would insist upon an elite pitcher like Clayton Kershaw or Chad Billingsley in return, and in failing to get that, they’d lock in on outfielder Matt Kemp.
