If this is true, the Yankees will need to find other options.

The Ben Sheets rumors are growing, and many have said they would actually prefer Sheets over Burnett. Both are injury prone, but when healthy, both are dominant pitchers.

The Yankees and fans are looking away from A.J. because he wants five years. That is taking a big chance on a guy that gets injured so often.

This is from (Peter Abraham) The LoHud Yankees Blog  yesterday:

"

It appears likely A.J. Burnett will be signed before the Winter Meetings.

The Braves have made the right-hander a four-year offer with a vesting option for a fifth season according to reports out of Atlanta. The Yankees are expected to counter that offer sometime tomorrow if they have not already.

The Braves are believed to have offered four years and $64 million.

"Blue Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi admitted Thursday that it’s unlikely free agent A.J. Burnett will stay in Toronto.

“It looks like we’re going to lose Burnett,” he said. “We don’t know where Burnett is going to go, but we’ve got to assume Burnett’s going to be gone.” The Yankees and Braves appear to be the strongest suitors for Burnett, with the Orioles, Phillies and Red Sox among the other possibilities.
