Is There a Realistic Way of Turning John Cena Heel?
This artcle I'm writing is to discuss the question: is there a logistic, real way for the WWE to turn John Cena heel. Sure the WWE could just turn the man heel, but what would that accomplish in the long run. This is more of a: is it good for business?
I think if you turn Cena heel, people would eat it up immediately. The only problem is, as I mentioned to myself before, once he goes heel, it will become cool to like Cena once again. The smarks will start to cheer, and we have the same situation we have now, a mixed reaction.
From a business standpoint would it, or could it work. Cena is pretty much the Face of the company from a marketing and publicity stand point. I believe that a huge reason Cena won't turn heel in the forseeable future is because of the work he does for the WWE. Paul Heyman made reference to it three months ago, Cena is Vince's Perfect Wrestler.
The guy is a work horse. He works every night, and he hits up every charity, autograph session, or press conference during the day. Can a guy that does that much work for the company, and is that visual outside of the Kayfabe world from 9-11 on Monday Nights ever come across as a convincing heel?
I say no. I don't think that the WWE has anyone like Cena period. Cena is cut from a different cloth. No one seems to have the passion that he does to be as visual and outspoken as he. The WWE couldn't realistically turn Cena heel and have him be the spokesman for the company, it wouldn't work at all because no one would buy it.
As I said, turning Cena heel will make it become cool to like him once again. Thats how he turned face in the first place, people started to think of him as cool as the rapper, and he was mega over. Turning him heel would just create a circle again as stated.

So No, there is no logical way to turn Cena heel. Furthermore, there's no reason to do it. If Cena goes heel, it becomes cool to like him and he becomes self-defeating, which in turn will make him stale. That is not a heel. He has a LONG face run ahead of him, before a heel turn is possible at all.
And even if it becomes possible to turn Cena heel, Who will be the new poster boy for the WWE? Who is the guy that will go out there and best represent the company and it's shareholders? That's the big issue with turning John Cena heel.
It could work for storyline purposes and play well on live TV, but if you do go that route, who becomes the best example of what the WWE could be? No one can match John Cena in that department. Thats the bigger issue coming out of this.
Majority of the wrestling community easily suggest turning Cena heel, but as you see it is more difficult than all of you think.
If you change Cena's character to what the IWC has been clamoring for the last two years, then their going to cheer him, even as the other fans boo.
No, you have to find something that would get ALL fans to boo him. It does have to be something that would be in opposition of a strong smark favorite, and something that is "disrespectful" to a good guy. Otherwise, it just won't work.
So therefore, i have come up with a scenario in which I think is the only way to turn Cena heel properly at the moment.
And the Undertaker marks usually will come out in full force, but oh well.
Cena stays champion till the rumble. The smarks will be livid. Undertaker becomes champion next PPV. The smarks will be besides themselves with joy. Why the difference? Got me. But, it's important.
Both men carry the title to the Royal Rumble. Both men win their Royal Rumble match, and then are surprise entrants in the Royal Rumble. Undertaker and Cena are last two in the ring. Cena throws out Undertaker. Which leads to the match at Wrestlemania 25, Cena vs. Undertaker. Undertaker's streak vs. Cena. Title vs. Title.
They have the match, a good 20-25 minute affair. Undertaker chokeslams Cena, Cena kicks out. Cena FUs Taker, Taker kicks out. Cena gets pissed and cheap shots Taker. Taker shrugs it off (no-selling isn't hard for Taker), and Tombstones Cena. Cena kicks out. Cena puts on the STFU. Undertaker taps.
Undertaker taps out to John Cena, at Wrestlemania...Wrestlemania 25. For the title unification. The smarks threaten to blade themselves.
The next night on Raw. Cena comes out. He cuts a short promo, going heel and talking about what a bastard the Undertaker is, and calling the fans worthless pieces of garbage for not believing in him, and not supporting him throughout the last few years, booing him during what should have been some of his most memorable moments.
Then, he closes his promo with "You people booed me against the Undertaker. But I don't care. Because I'm the champ, and the CHAMP IS STILL HERE."
There, you have heel John Cena. The good wrestling fans will boo him because he's heel, and the smarks will be so pissed off about making the Undertaker tap out at Wrestlemania, it won't even be cool to cheer him. Just imagine the hatred...
Heel John Cena. But It'll never happen though, but we're talking soda cups being thrown in the ring heel turn.
