Terrell Owens: St. Louis Rams and Teams That Could Actually Use the WR's Service

Tim KeeneyOct 16, 2011

After a second alleged suicide attempt, it appears the T.O. Show is coming to a sad end. Terrell Owens clearly has some mental issues, but wouldn't another NFL stint be most helpful for the troubled WR?

Nothing says depression like a 37-year-old unemployed star WR coming off knee surgery. The only thing that will help Owens right now is to make a team.

And why wouldn't a team take a shot on him right now?

TO is famous for always being in terrific shape and I'm sure that's no different right now. I'm sure he's been doing his sit-ups in the driveway.

It's not like he's washed up. During his last season in the NFL, he caught 72 balls for 983 yards in just 14 games.

He's also been famous for on and off the field antics, but at this point in his career, he has to know that one slip-up means he's done. Even though it's TO, you have to believe a 37-year-old can behave himself.

If Ochocinco can do it, anyone can. Even Owens.

So if an NFL team does take a shot on Owens, and I think we can agree that would be best for Owens' health and everyone involved, who would do it?

St. Louis Rams

There's no question that Sam Bradford is a talented quarterback. But he needs some weapons to throw to or things are just going to keep getting worse in St. Louis.

The Rams went out and added a couple of wide receivers this offseason in Greg Salas and Mike Sims-Walker.

Salas is still young and hasn't looked terrible, but Sims-Walker has already been benched and it's only Week 6.

Owens would give this team a receiver they desperately need.

San Francisco 49ers

Besides Michael Crabtree, who hasn't lived up to expectations himself, the Niners have no legitimate threats at the WR position.

Alex Smith certainly doesn't help, but when Ted Ginn is your No. 2 receiver, you know you have problems.

The 49ers are suddenly a playoff contender, and TO would immediately start for them and bolster their offense. Seems like a win-win situation.

Carolina Panthers

After Steve Smith, it's Legedu Naanee and Brandon LaFell. Not exactly ideal No. 2 receivers.

But the Panthers have weapons. Smith is a true No. 1 while Greg Olsen and Jeremy Shockey have bolstered the tight end position.

Cam Newton appears to be a star in the making and giving him one more weapon to work with could make the Panthers a scary-good offense.
