WWE Vengeance 2011: Mark Henry Will Take Big Show to His House of Pain

T.J. McaloonOct 13, 2011

Mark Henry has only been World Heavyweight Champion of the WWE since Night of Champions, but he has welcomed a number of people into his “Hall of Pain.” Come the next WWE pay-per-view, Vengeance, The Big Show will be the next member to Henry’s House.

Let’s rewind before we can look towards the pay-per-view match between these two monsters.

Four months ago, these two behemoths started in a classic big guy vs. bigger guy feud. Their matches weren’t the mat classics that wrestlers like: Daniel Bryan, CM Punk or Jack Swagger. But, sometimes a match between two super-heavyweights is a nice change of pace.

Although, the feud was not long lasting with it coming to an end at the pay-per-view Money in the Bank, after Mark Henry pinned the Big Show. The match itself wasn’t a blow off to the feud, but the actions from Henry put this storyline to a screeching halt.

After Henry had pinned the Big Show, he dragged his beaten opponent to the corner of the ring, where he proceeded to wedge Show’s ankle in a chair. With Show’s ankle stuck in the chair, Henry and his 450-pound frame climbed the turnbuckle and leaped into the air crashing down onto the chair and Show’s ankle.

The act broke Big Show’s ankle, sending him to the disabled list until recently.

While Big Show was away, it allowed Henry to face then Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton for Orton’s title at Night of Champions. Henry pulled the upset, pinning Orton for his title.

Now, with Big Show back and healthy he is looking for revenge. He didn’t waste any time finding Henry and making a challenge for his championship.

At Big Show’s first Smackdown event, from his injury he stormed the ring after Henry denied his request to a title match at Vengeance. Show fought through security guards to get to Henry, as when he finally was able to get his hands on Henry he sent the heavyweight champion, after some brawling outside of the ring, through the Smackdown announcer’s table.

The icing on the cake would have been if Show was able to break Henry’s ankle, as he had the champions ankle wedge the same way Show’s ankle was four months ago, but Smackdown commissioner Teddy Long came out and announced that Show would get his title request at Vengeance.

So now, we’re caught up and ready for this World Heavyweight Championship match on Oct. 23rd at Vengeance. This will be Henry’s second defense on a pay-per-view, as Hell in a Cell was his first.

Big Show will be coming into this match with revenge on his mind, which will cloud his judgement in making good decisions. Show’s emotions will get the best of him, costing him this shot at the title.

There’s an open room at Henry’s “Hall of Pain.” After Vengeance, there will be one more person checking in, but not checking out.
