Boston Red Sox: Media Reacts to Bo Sox's Reported Chaos

Alex KayOct 13, 2011

The national media and especially the Boston media are having a field day picking on the Red Sox organization for the turmoil it has been dealing with since its September collapse.

It seems that everyone has an opinion on the events that transpired that started with the team losing 18 of its final 24 games and missing the Wild Card spot in the American League on the final day of the regular season.

It was a large fall for a team that some people thought would be as good as the 1927 New York Yankees, one of the greatest teams ever assembled in professional baseball.

It was nine-to-two odds to win the World Series, just behind the Philadelphia Phillies but ahead of the rival Yankees, who also have a loaded roster.

How things have changed.

Bob Hohler got the ball really rolling with his investigative report entitled ‘Inside the Collapse,’ which you can read here.

Hohler provided details about Terry Francona losing his locker room, pitchers drinking beer and eating fried chicken on their off days in the clubhouse and other ridiculous things.

After that article, Red Sox nation has gone into panic mode along with the front office.

Terry Francona was not retained, Theo Epstein is now with the Chicago Cubs and everything is changing very rapidly around Fenway.

Bob Klapisch of The Boston Herald writes,

"

"The Sox seem headed for a dark age. Their likely new GM will inherit the job without any real-time experience. There’s no manager in place, nor is there an organizational plan to deal with the in-house crisis. Whoever replaces Francona will have to be strong enough to neutralize Beckett, the most defiant of the three rebels. That’s hardly an enviable task for a skipper walking into his clubhouse for the first time."

"

It feels like every hour, a new article springs up criticizing the Red Sox organization and you can just check the sports page of every major media outlet to see for yourself.

Hopefully, the team makes some good hires at GM and manager and this all blows over once baseball season is over.
