Week 6 Start Em Sit Em: Steven Jackson and 3 Players Owners Must Sit
Sometimes even your best-laid fantasy football plans don't come to fruition. You acquire players either in the draft, in trade or off of the waiver wire who seem primed to do well, but they just can't perform to the level they were expected to.
Sometimes it's permanent, but other times, those poor performances can be chalked up to a bad matchup for the player. Here are three usual starters that you should consider benching this week.
RB Steven Jackson, St. Louis Rams (at Green Bay Packers)

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The Rams' offense has struggled so far this season, and some of that can be attributed to the quad injury suffered by Steven Jackson in Week 1 that caused him to miss one game.
But there are a lot of other problems plaguing the Rams that have little to do with Jackson aside from the fact that they are limiting his production significantly. The fact that they've been outscored 46-113 in their four losses has limited the back to just 124 rushing yards on the season.
Playing from behind necessitates abandoning the run for the pass, and when the Rams play the Green Bay Packers this Sunday, they will be facing the same situation.
This makes Jackson irrelevant from a fantasy standpoint this week, and you should keep him on your bench. If the low-scoring trend continues for the Rams, he may be worth trying to move or even dropping altogether.
WR Mario Manningham, New York Giants (vs. Buffalo Bills)
Yes, this will likely be a shootout, with running back Brandon Jacobs out for the Giants and the Bills being one of the highest-scoring offenses in the league, but that doesn't make Mario Manningham a safe start this week.
With the emergence of Victor Cruz, Manningham has slipped to No. 3 in the Giants' depth chart behind him and Hakeem Nicks. He has no scores and just 171 yards in 13 catches on the season, with 56 of those yards coming in his team's loss to the Seattle Seahawks last week.
While his ball security improved last week, he's still not getting the kind of targets that make him worth a fantasy start this week unless your league fields three receivers per team. If you choose to play him, it will be a major risk; he's not likely to contribute significantly this week or, if Cruz keeps it up, for the rest of the season.
RB Jonathan Stewart, Carolina Panthers (at Atlanta Falcons)
Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was named the team's goal line back this week, taking over the role once reserved for Stewart and making his already-shaky fantasy value plummet.
Though he averaged at least 90 yards in Week 2, Week 3 and Week 4, he had just six carries for 20 yards and one 13-yard reception last week. With fellow back DeAngelo Williams getting the bulk of the big-yardage carries and Newton running more in short-yardage situations, the one-time touchdown poacher is now the victim of the same.
Don't look for the Panthers to run much against the Falcons this week; Atlanta is ranked fourth against the run but 22nd against the pass, so Carolina will rely primarily on its big-yardage aerial game to gain the upper hand on Sunday.
Put it all together, and Stewart barely deserves a spot on your fantasy roster going forward, let alone a start this week.
