WWE: Will The Miz and R-Truth Stick Together to Battle Triple H?

Drake OzOct 12, 2011

I think it’s safe to say that the WWE has worn out the “You’re fired” storyline that it seems to use 186 times per year.

John Cena was fired for failing to beat CM Punk, Vince McMahon was relieved of his duties as WWE Chairman, R-Truth and The Miz were fired by new COO Triple H, The Game was fired as C.O.O. (and for some reason, found that out through the man he replaced, Vince McMahon) and Jim Ross was subsequently fired by the newly appointed interim Raw General Manager, John Laurinaitis.

And that was just in the last few months. The WWE has obviously gone fire crazy.

None of those firings really seem to matter, though, as every single of one of those guys who got fired is already back on WWE TV, with The Miz and R-Truth being the ones who came back most recently.

The dynamic duo returned at the end of Monday’s episode of Raw, and after a forgettable bout against Alberto Del Rio and CM Punk, they were attacked by Punk and Triple H before fleeing the ring.

Now, all of a sudden, we’ve got a huge tag team match setup for Vengeance in less than two weeks: It’ll be Punk and Triple H—I guess we’re supposed to forget that they hated each other like a month ago—vs. The Miz and Truth.

It’s clear that the real beef here is between Miz/Truth and Triple H, because it can be said that Miz and Truth are the main reasons why Triple H is no longer the WWE COO. After all, they were the ones behind most of the chaos that caused the superstars to walk out and Triple H to lose his job.

The Miz and R-Truth are, aside from maybe Mark Henry, two of the most unstoppable forces in the WWE right now, and their pairing has turned the company upside down. They seem to be working very well together, and I’m not sure anyone can prevent them from ruining the WWE at the moment.

Anyone but themselves, that is.

Though Miz and Truth have been on the same page so far, we still have to realize that they’re both mega-heels at the moment. Heels come with big egos, and when big egos are around each other for too long, good things don’t usually happen.

It appears that The Miz and Truth have put those individual egos aside as of now in order to unite for the common cause: To get noticed on Monday Night Raw and be treated like the company’s other top stars.

So, what happens if The Miz starts getting WWE Championship matches and Truth doesn’t? Or vice cersa?

The Miz and Truth break up—that’s what happens.

I think it’s far too early to have this great heel pairing go their separate ways, though, because their ongoing angle with Triple H—and all of the WWE for that matter—is only starting to heat up. But this is the WWE we’re talking about here, and rushing what should be lengthy angles is the norm, not the exception.

If I were booking this feud, I would have R-Truth and The Miz defeat Triple H and Punk at Vengeance.

Why? Because, if the faces win the first match, then the battle is over. Good will have conquered evil, and there’d be no reason for Triple H and Punk to deal with them any longer.

So, after Truth and Miz pick up this initial victory, you continue this rivalry all the way to Survivor Series when a baby face team headlined by Punk and Triple H takes on The Miz, Truth and three other heels in a traditional 5-on-5 tag team match.

The outcome of this match should be obvious: The face team should win, with Triple H and Punk being the last two members of the team standing. After that, you could have the blowoff match for this feud at the December pay-per-view, WWE TLC.

Then, that is when you start building toward a breakup between The Miz and R-Truth. You don’t do it in the midst of the biggest angle in the WWE—you do it once that angle is over.

Keep this incredibly hilarious (yet serious) heel duo together until the end of the year, gradually tease dissension between the two and then have one of them, preferably The Miz, turn face leading into the Royal Rumble.

That’s what I would do, but will the WWE brass decide to do the same thing? I think so.

I don’t usually have a lot of faith in them, but I’m going to this time around. They realize that they have a good thing going with Miz and Truth, and they cannot end it before getting a huge payoff out of it.

That payoff will come at Survivor Series, and as long as Truth and Miz can coexist until then, the WWE will be heading in the right direction.
